Yep, I sort of meant you could tab your way to the last object in line and see the final ID count.
I like in that screenshot you have 10,000 brushes in less than 2 hours of building. Something seems fishy.
EDIT: seems obvious, but if you 'to end' something, it'll give it the last ID and you can see then how many total brushes you have pretty simply.

I'm a real speed-builder... ;)
The real truth is that the total time wraps around when it reaches a high enough value.Quote:

That's kind of clever. Now that you mention it, it is obvious, but I never thought of it before (I've always used the info window without thinking about the alternatives). Just remember to do it for a non-terrain brush (or remember not to save afterwards or else your terrain tediously aligned in time might be lost).

The 16-sided cylinders really are a godsend though. They align perfectly to the grid and to the other brushes like the 8-sided cylinders do, except they're nicely rounded.
You have 2200 brushes but 1024 textures already? You're only allowed 32 texture families, maybe that's the limit you hit? With the newer image formats allowed, you don't even really need the families anymore, except for sorting out your textures.
Dromed says i have reached 32 texture family, don´t know what that means, but it sucks, cause now i have to do the rest of the map with the textures i am only allowed to use, i should have followed Dale advice in his tuturials videos, but no i had to risk doing the same old habits. :tsktsk:

Hey Cardia1, if you haven't watch the ongoing tutorial series Let's Tame Dromed the Beast part 1: (
http://youtu.be/nFIcXS4qx4E)
I highly recommend it. It has helped remind me of early lessons and things that are easy to pass over. At some point he talks about going into cell view mode after building an area to see how it's being split up. This and other tips.
Ps. You're compressing your texture pallet on the regular right? To clear out unused textures? Keep in mind too, if some don't clear, that they may be hidden from view on a burried terrain face. One in the series of videos talks about resetting the brushes main texture so flaky textures you were testing go away.
yes i´m following his videos, unfortunately i tend to be lazy and do the old habit procedures.

It means you're using 32 folders of textures. Are you still using .gifs with the palettes and the full.gif files? If not, you can put as many textures as you want into each folder, up to a limit of 1024 textures.

yes i´m using gif files with full.gif files.
So can i place whole textures in one folder , all of them in gif format?
Xorak on 2/12/2014 at 23:33
Sadly, not with the gifs. You could consider converting them to other formats. I find the best option is the .dds format. If you use a ton of pngs and tgas, they'll bloat you're zip file very quickly. Though I think you can use pcx files as well and do away with the palettes, though they might have to be saved in a non-indexed state.
