Golly, thanks for quoting that entire frickin post. I almost didn't see your little one-line reply at the end!
:tsktsk:
LOL Sorry.
What do you mean, broadcast power equipment? The lights that are floating green balls with little streamers going up to them? I miss them too ;)
Please elaborate if I'm wrong.

Yes, those. And the big satellite-dish broadcast stations.

The cutscenes are the most dis., because the Garrett we see on the cutscenes isn't the old anti-hero we once knew.
He has fallen victim to the Xbox-kiddies; For example, in the cutscene at the graveyard with the keepers.
Why ISA, oh Why?

Oh those things. Yeah I'd like to see them back too.

The most disappointing thing for me is reading threads about the most disappointing thing.

For the most part these are tiny little quibbles, so play the game and reserve judgement till later. Chances are you'll enjoy it, but, like us, have a few things that we gripe about because we're nerds.

I only have a few grumbles. Bear in mind I've only played the demo, on expert.
The levels are titchy. Both the training one and the two that make the first mission. I know them by heart, and I only played through once.
Crouching is like cheating. guards rarely see you and never hear you, even if you crouch-run. Not one surface made one sound if I crouched. It was like some sort of twisted god-mode.
Finally, guards can basically be ignored. You can run right past them. Chances are they won't see you, but even if they do they won't persue for long, and you can just run right past them again next time.
Remember that loot in the statue's hand? The statue with the guard stood next to it? Try it there. Ignoring the guard, run in. Take the loot, and run away. Doesn't matter where - up the stairs is fine, as Benny the Archer is just as useless.
Even if you really cause a riot, everything's calm a minute later, and often you don't even need to run off to wait - just press against a shady wall and watch the guards give up.
So, I expect this game to take me just a few hours, rather than the weeks that Thief 2 took me the first time I played.

Map design was the only thing that bothered me about Thief DS.
I've re-written this post three times now, and I was going to harp about the level size but the more I think about it...
The maps were exquisite. Just incredibly detailed, however small.
Splinter Cell, a game very similar (either way) sports maps that are roughly smaller (even Pandora Tomorrow has relatively small maps) that reuse their space more than Thief DS does.
While the City is something we all get to know REALLY well, I have to say I was quite impressed with their size with respect to the fact that it was a 'console designed' game on PC.
I don't know what the chances are for an expansion pack, but frankly, I think Thief DS needs one... and the expansion should not only add more areas, but combine many together (the city could be two or three sections as opposed to six, not including sub-areas). I think it would also allow the designers to add in more 'explorer rewards' such as alcoves, balconeys and such.

This is highly untrue. I've had situations last for the entire duration of my visit. Not because I continue to perpetuate with broadheads (*grins*) but more because of the City spawning Cityfolks. People just keep showing up and especially in the Old Quarter and Stonemarket, people just keep popping in and gangbanging each other.

Other: It had to end. :(

I would have to go with the low AI awareness. I think the AI is ok in other aspects, but it just seems a bit strange that the guards don´t even notice me when they bump into me and need to take another path (happend a few times).
There are other issues as well of course. The small map sizes are possible to live with, but why oh why did they keep the confirmation screen when leaving one zone and entering another? This is inexcuseable. At least it could have been an option. (I take it there is no file one can alter to get rid of this horror).
Second thing, which is just sloppy, is the resolutionchanges when loading. It was fixed with a patch in DX:IW. How could they leave it here?
As for rope arrows - I miss them. A lot. I don´t mind climbing, but the rope arrows are just more inventive, and give more memorable gaming moments imho. The gloves feel like a step back.
Nevertheless this game is wonderful! I think it captures the feeling from the previous versions, and does it looking very nice indeed. The sounds are also nice, and the game earns the prestigous YBCSA trophe (Yans Best Computergame Sneeze Award)!
Now, an Editor for this would be nice...
