Is this a TG, or a Hard or Expert difficulty level thing?
Spike14 :thumb: Both TDP and G. Hard difficulty I guess. (I think on Expert you had to kill all the haunts...)

No.
That's exactly the point, it's not a difficulty setting, it's a secret, you're supposed to see for yourself that the corpses are named Martello/Renault and that in the graveyard there are two empty graves with their tombstones marked Martello/Renault.
When I played TDP on Normal the only thing that I had to do was to perform this strange ritual over Murus' grave. When I played the mission on Expert - Murus asked me to bury his two brothers (and it was no secret, I HAD to to this to get the key to the armory) and kill all the haunts. It may be a bonus objective on Normal, but it is a must on Expert.
Maybe something was changed in the Gold version?

Nope, I recently played through TG and burying his friends was mandatory in order to get the key.
Whenever I played RTC on Expert, Murus never asked me to get his brothers.
Actually I don't remember much, but the last time I played RTC on expert I remember carrying Murus's brothers with me and finding out I didn't have to, because Murus warped to the cemetary as soon as I got his prayer book, rosary, candle and blessed holy symbol.
Yes exactly, but after you've performed the ritual on Murus, he asks you for "one last thing". Which is to help two of his friends with the same thing, aswell. I am absolutely positive that he asked me to do this before he gave me the Armory Key. On Expert, in Thief Gold.
I was playing some fan mission, I don't know which one, and there was this locked door that I couldn't get by. So I piled every explosive thing in the ENTIRE MISSION in front of the door, got WAY back, and...

http://redstreak.no-ip.org:3999/~w_hairst/firebarrels.jpgApparently the shrapnel doesn't have a maximum range - it's dependent on the range of the explosion. Instant death to Garrett, even at this range. (And the torch lit, too.)
(Edit - Pic location changed, reference updated.)

On expert he DOES ask, but on normal he DOESN'T ask...
...thanks! Your comment has made me truly enjoy Thief by playing on expert! :D

P.S.: How did you stack the explosive barrels?
Canthlian on 9/10/2003 at 23:38
Undoubtedly, the stupidest way I've ever died is in the Temple in TG. I leaned around a doorway, and somehow managed to get myself wedged on the other side of the frame. After flailing around helplessly for a few minutes, I pressed the opposite lean key. Garrett came flying out of the doorframe rounded back into the doorway, and then got flung across the room to crunch up against the other door. Instant death, just add leaning.

My big-time problem is, that my mouse gets stuck in irregular intervals during long game-sessions. Generally this means I cant turn anywhere in Thief.
So... I was replaying Cragsleft on expert, and wanted to try the zombie-hammer pitfight for the first time. So, I had a zombie tailing me (as the creeper lost me so easily all the time, I had to make sure to be close to it and check it was still behind me at times).
I just came to the 2 hammers talking about acolytes not appreciating the hammer-ways, and looked behind me for the some-bee; BAM, mouse's stuck again! Panicking, I back walk on the hammers:
*Behind me*
"By the Builder, who do I see before me!?"
"Aaahh! An intruder!"
*Front of me.*
"Hrrnnaaaarrr!"
*Got the mouse free, turned around and tried to run behind the hammers.*
"Swing with me, brothers!" -yelled the other.
...And I barely turned around to see both hammers and the zombie flailing at me in syntax. Yes. At expert-level. :cheeky:
