I was playing RTC...on the left side (looking from the doors), picking that door with the purple goblet open, when I was whacked by a Haunt!
By the way, who here has finished that level in under a minute?
It's so funny!
What they should have done (LGS people), is given those doors a source for "DestroyStim", and given anything under "Debris" a "Destroy Object" receptron...then had the door emanate the receptron in a radius about five feet.
"HAHA" says some wise guy! "I'm going to BLOCK these double doors with a skull so I won't have to put up with that idiot Murus!"
"HAHA" say the people at LGS, as the guy totes his skull over, only to have it vanish from his inventory when he gets close! :cheeky:
But they didn't...
...alas...
...but what fun would that be...anyway?
And what find of a Thief would trust those Keeper-rigged doors to stay open, anyway? Being the people they are, the Keepers would OBVIOUSLY have rigged the doors...
...at least, I would have know...
...if I was Garrett...
...but I'm not...
...and most poor, naive Garrett's DON'T know...
...I'm rambling...
...right?
:laff:

I don't remember which mission it was. I had to use several rope arrows in a spot to get up or across to where I was going. I got up one and jumped to the next one, turned to grab the one I had just used...I had the wrong arrow highlighted and I plummetted to my death.
Similarly, I had mastered a technique of grabbing my arrow just after jumping off it so I could keep it in inventory. This was useful for those times when I wouldn't be able to reach the arrow after getting to where I was going. Well, I had taken a break from Thief and when I came back the first few times I tried to use it I grabbed the arrow before jumping off the rope.... I realized I would not be able to master this technique again.

I too had an incident with the "lean-through-a-door" bug the first time I played Thief: TDP. I was in the "Bonehoard" mission, and on the highest level of the tombs, where you're almost too afraid to look down. Anyway, I leaned forward through a doorway, got stuck, and was flailing like a dying fish trying to break free with three or four zombies on my ass....
...Well, I managed break free, but I was promptly thrown the scale equivalent of 300 ft. straight backwards and plummeted to my death at the bottom floor of the tombs. :tsktsk:
In Thief II there was an incident in the "Shipping and Recieving" mission where I was SOMEHOW chased underwater by Captain Davidson (he didn't drown...!) and given a nice hacking by his sword. :laff:

LotP...on expert, I'm right past the building that has a glass roof and there is a long metal pole that stretches across the two buildings. I'm crossing the pole and about 1/4 the way across Garrett says "Careful..." and I apparently slipped and fell to my doom. And thats the end of me.

I was playing "Undercover" on Easy (long time ago), without knockouts. I have grabbed the Amulet and was running like hell through the temple.
At last I have reached the gate, and there was just one more Hammerite guard standing on the street. Victory was so near... One hit of the hammer (already low health level) and... DEAD, game over.

In addition to the usual, ie: getting squished by elevators, falling off of high places, walking confidently into a room only to find myself surrounded by very agitated guards, stepping on my own mines, giving myself away in countless ways, today I discovered something new. In the brand spankin' new FM Mixed Messages there is a shelf on which rests a bunch of broadheads. The arrows are at an angle and the arrowheads protrude slightly from the shelf. At the moment I was more interested in the more sophisticated goodies in the room, so I lean forward to get at them. AH! One of the broadheads hit me as if it was fired from a bow. That's the first time I can remember getting hurt by any weapon sitting innocently on a shelf or table. I only lost a single hitpoint, but the guard around the corner heard my yell...:tsktsk:

The stupidest I've ever died would be by candle. I've played Thief Gold, Thief 2, and every FM I can get my hands on for the past 4 years, but I did NOT know that a damned candle could do damage. :o I was finishing up an FM recently after taking a lot of damage, and had a single blip of life left. All I had to do was grab the final item, and the mission was done. No more AIs present, no more danger around. No traps, torches, heights, lava, no burning cauldrons of molten metal, no crackling fire.
But hey, I die because I get burned to death by a 6 inch tall candle. Some Master Thief I am!

Once, I didnt exactly die, but I had to load a quicksave, anyways, it was on the ambush! misson and I was at the market place with the small little bridge with the guard there. And anyways, He was looking the other way and that instant I went to run and blackjack him, then a guard came around the corner but didnt see me, so I still bj'ed him anyways and then I heard a big *BANG!* I was stunned, then the guard said, "I'm Hit!!!" And backed off then the other guard came running up towards me, anyways then when he said I'm hit I jumped off the bridge into the water. The funniest part was when he said "I'm HIT!" I was literally laughing my butt off. :p
