I have just finished Thief III, and here's my first stupid death within that game.
I was busily robbing the Wieldstrom museum and had already accumulated 92% of all loot and two "special loot items". Several encounters with the guards resulted in some rooms littered with unconscious people and a severely wounded Garrett without any healing potion left. I was already thinking of leaving when I suddenly saw a painting hanging in a balcony high above some stairs.
I could not reach the balcony with my beloved painting, but there was another balcony just nearby, so I mounted it's railings and tried to jump onto the railings near the object of my desire. Unfortunately, I began to slowly glide from the railing I was standing on, and jumped in a frantic attempt to get to the painting. Instead, Garrett fell down onto the floor and died of his wounds.
*That* would have been something for the evening news: "Museum proves to be Thief-proof again - foolish so-called 'master thief' died of too much greed". And almost all was stolen and almost all guards were asleep... what a shameful way to die.

Well, frankly, I just can't remember at this moment... Garrett almost always dies stupid because of my actions (like throwing a mine over a wall, except that the mine hits the top of the wall and bounces back to me - I don't notice that, stand still for a few seconds, and try to move and then you know what happens).
Oh and sometimes I get stuck in the floor, at some weird angle, and I try to jump out of it, then I suddenly get a heart-attack because Garrett screams so plonkingly hard!!

It was in Songs of Caverns. I was doing the kangraoo jumping up some stairs. About halfway up I took damage, and a few seconfs later, I was dead. I almost made it to the top

I was in the lost city, falling hopelessly towards a pit of lava, so I decided to quick load. I accidently quick saved, and had to do the whole thing over. Stupid thing to do while dying I suppose, but still pretty stupid. I learned to use other save methods pretty quick after that one. :p

I do that alot. Anytime I slip and fall I hit F11 and quicksave while falling.... it's not very fun... especially if it's near the end of the level

There was once in T:DS in the Hammerite factory area of the cathedral where I had a rather funny death. I was being chased by a Hammerite around the area with the flames coming out of the grates in the floor. Well, he killed me and yelled "Yarr! The righteous are always victorious!" or somesuch, stuck his hammer back on his back, turned around and got incinerated. Warmed my heart :)
Then, of course, I've also had the mishaps trying to shoot fire arrows while hiding behind objects with a substantially larger bounding box than the model. Scared the shit out of me the first time I did it. It was in Ramirez's mansion and it was one of the first times I used a fire arrow. I didn't use them again for a while after that.

Well.. I was playing TDP with a friend of mine - the mission "Return to the cathedral". I was in st.Yora and was triyng to make my was to get the rosary, when a zombie started chasing me. I began to run and my freind shouted: "Go incide this room over there and block the door. That way the zombie wont be able to come in." I did as he said and waited. At first the zombie did stop right in front of the door, but then it leaned forward so that only it's legs remained outside and it's body passed trough the door. "Now that's what I call undead" - said my friend and began laughing. Since the room was realy smal and hat only one exit I guess you can make out the rest of the story yourselves :P

SHAS, as usual. I was climbing on an exquisite handrail, in one of Christine Schneider's missions, I think. Garrett does his usual drop dead and scream. I rolled my eyes and said "SHAS on a handrail..." "Two bits!" finished my wife.
(As in "Shave and a haircut, two bits!")
This one was a close call rather than an actual death. While trying out the Thief 3 demo for the first time, I came across a guard, walking toward me, with a lit torch in his hand. To experiment with the new engine, and put out the torch, I tried to shoot him in the chest with a water arrow. I missed, and hit him square in the groin instead. I heard him scream "Oh boy" and the torch promptly went out. This, of course, was followed by a mad chase through the halls...

"Oh look," he said, "another body I dropped!" I frowned and was about to explain that he hadn't yet been to that part of town when he leaned over the edge and fell.

Frantically trying to move Garrett's body in mid-air to land on the roof of the building below, he manages to right click and THROW THE DEAD BODY to the relative safety of the roof as he plunges to his death.
That I think is the funniest thing I've heard yet. XD . . . hmm. . I know I've had several stupid deaths but the two that stick out in my mind are from Thief1 and Thief2 . .
In the haunted cathedral basement there's some passageways and bigger rooms with machines and equipment in them, and I was in one of these larger areas. . I noticed that there was a patch of floor that was lighter in color than the rest of the floor and was like, "huh. . wonder what that is? Let's go check it out!" So I innocently sneaked over and as soon as I was on the square I heard this sickening crunch followed by Garrett's scream of death. . it happened so fast, I have no idea what the HELL happened. . .whether it was just his infamous "heart attack" or if pale floor squares are just plain
EVIL. . :weird:
The second stupid death was in Shoalsgate prison, and identical to Wynne's death. . I climbed into the dumbwaiter and pulled the switch, hearing the whirring noise and wondering why I wasn't going up. . then I looked up just in time to see the dumbwaiter come down and squash me flat. .
Amazingly, the first time I played Thief1, I succeeded against all odds by sheer dumb luck. .
I was in the haunted cathedral in the building in the cloister where you find the prayerbook and I was up on the rafter, only two haunts had come in and found me. I was in plain site and they couldn't reach me, but I couldn't get away, and sadly I had saved a second before the two of them came in, so I couldn't reload and I only had two fire arrows---that's all. . .the haunts kept dancing around in combat mode, but they always jump back to back at various intervals, so at that precise time I was lucky enough to blast both of them with the first fire arrow (I think one of them died) then just shot the remaining one with the other arrow. . .jumped down and tore ass outta there and bumped right into a zombie. . .(didn't die though, thankfully. . just ran into the building with the observatory and caught my breath. . .god, I had to quite playing for a while and go lie down on my bed to stop hyperventilating. . )

I once got stuck when walking on some pipes and about 5 seconds later Garrett decided to have an heartattack.
