well, on return to the cathedral i was walkin with some dead priests corpse and i went to jump off those stairs, yknow the 'these stairs have seen better days' stairs, and all of a sudden my leg snaps and i fall to the bottom with this corpse, maybe garretts foot got stuck in the crack and he twisted his leg or sumthin, ouch!

I once got stuck when walking on some pipes and about 5 seconds later Garrett decided to have an heartattack.
omfgroflmaopwnz0rbbq  :cheeky:
Yeah, those random deaths are why the
QUICKSAVE button is your friend.
Seriously, I played this game for a year before I discovered it actually had a quicksave button.

Sweet Jesus, that just happened to me TODAY!!! Exact same scenario, with Brother Renault's body.

I've had that happen too. That's why, on my last playthrough of RTC, I take a few steps forward and fling the bodies *over* the stairs, then run & jump down. Never setting my feet on those steps again...

It was on level return the haunted cathedral in TDP, I was walking down the collapsed stairs towards the Brother Murus (What ever it was...?) I get stuck, I wonder what the hell happened. I tried to jump up and down, move side to side, lean back and fowards but I was stuck, all this lasted maybe minute, and then... bam, I hear Garrett scream and all fade to black. First I was like  (OmFg!)
and then laughing the hell outta me :D

i don't have really funny deaths but i do remember :
the first time i played first city bank and trust i ran around in the building to explore a bit first, and probably forgot about its metal friends, the combat bots didn't like noise from my steps on the stones, i tried to run away from a couple of them and a stupid workerbot but they're bombs were faster then me
hmm actually that's more stupid then funny..:nono:

More of a memorable death than a funny one:
The first time playing through Eavesdropping I decided the best point of entry would be through the crypts (I thought Garrett was being superstitious in the briefing, as I hadn't played T1 yet). So skulking about the crypt I soon found what I thought was just another Mechanist guard (wearing red), and oblivious to the ominous rattling of chains I crept up behind him and swung my blackjack down on his head. Of course instead of the satisfying thump I was expecting, I heard a haunting gasp and before I could figure out what was happing IT turned around and smashed my head in with its hammer... and as the light fades around me I get good look at its face...:wot:
My first encounter with a hammer haunt... I'll never forget it.

Not really funny. The STUPIDEST way I ever died so far was leaning too far over edges to look down, and seeing the ground rush up at me.
Here's an odd sort of one.
On kidnap - site 6(?), the one with the funky Cthulu statue in the lava. Going around the back end behind the lava, and having the guards stomp THROUGH the lava to come get me. When did they develop the fireproof outfits? So silly me tries to run through the lava to get away from them (figuring it was a glitch, or non-harmful). Maybe non-harmful to THEM. I found out whatever bug it was didn't apply to ME.

Ah, this brings me back :D ... my very first Thief experience.
I was in Bafford's, still my very first day playing Thief. My computer was really dim for some reason and it was hard to see well. So I just crawled through the sewers and have waltzed on into the mansion's basement. Remembering that useful tip, "Light is your enemy!", I decided to put every single water arrow I saw out. Well, as smart as I am (not a compliment to myself) I soon found that I could not see anything. Bewildered by my blindness, I ran around the place, until I heard a guard yell, "Hey you!". I guess I ran right smack into him, because my health started lowering, and the death movie played.
That was back in the day before I knew what the blackjack was for. Every guard I saw I would hack to bits. Ah, the memories.

Twice in one game............. got squished using an elevator going up (think my head was sticking too far out over the end of the elevator). Then a little later decided to use a ladder instead of the elevator & fell off the ladder from about three stories up!! :o
