The most embarrassing death I ever endured was in TDS when I was in the Docks. There were guards coming at me from in front and behind in one of the tight alleyways and I jumped up to the wall and used my climbing gloves to get out of their reach. But there was no where to go. I thought they'd give up and leave or loose sight of me, but nooooo, they just kept hurling insults and saying, "Just hang on. I'll be there eventually." After about fifteen minutes of listening to their jabber, I jumped down and they all ganged up on me and killed me. :joke:

Ahh, my most stupidist way to die was in Kidnap, there's this bridge you can walk over and beneath it is lava.
Me making alot of noise while walking on the wood, the two guards that are suppose to have a conversation suddenly turn to me. having no choice to either face them or run back, i saw this little ledge in the shadow so heck! -Jumps on it-
After atleast like 2 minutes the guards give up and do their regular routine ( Could hear the footsteps )
Sad thing is, i couldnt get on the wooden bridge again :erg: so i decided to dance in the lava Dx

In the Museum in TDS I was looting the Terrance Hall when I stumbled on an elevator. I pushed the upper button. Nothing. I pushed the lower button. Nothing. I played with the buttons for a while and jumped into the elevator shaft with my climbing gloves, magically breaking the through the sound-suppressing barrier between the two Rooms and crushed to death when up-coming clanking elevator crushed me to the ceiling. Almost made me swear...

I saw this thread after bumping across it, looking around Wikipedia for the games I enjoyed in my past, and decided to sign up just to post my death moment.
Anyway, I still remember my most humerous death. It was the first level of Thief: The Dark Project, probably a few times playing, decided to stay around the beginning for a minute after talking with a bud on the phone, when I heard those guards talking near the entrance gate about the Bear Pits. I listened, laughing, and not realising I had my sword drawn.. I held the right arrow by accident, strafing right infront of all of them.. I wasn't looking at the screen at the time, but then I heard them stop and then hear myself being hacked and ranged down.. >_>

One time I got caught by an archer (and this was on extreme mode). With no desire to really run, I decided to get in close and take him out. Before I could, however, he was going to get an arrow off and, having my sword drawn, I instinctively go into block mode thinking that it might block the arrow.
Unfortunately, Garrett does not have monk-like arrow blocking skills.

In Thief 2 he does . . . which game do you mean? I don't remember an extreme mode in either of the first games . . .

The stupidest way I have died is to go to sleep at the keyboard and walk off the edge of a drop. The splat at the bottom usually wakes me up.
As for the quick save vs. slot save, I think a combination of the two is best. Pick a time interval that you do not want to waste, say 15-30 minutes. Do slot saves for those intervals. Then do quick saves in between. This method is indispensible for ghosting, where you do not know in advance whether the AI will be alerted.

Thief Gold. And I meant hard mode.
I just died interestingly, actually. Wasn't so much stupid as cool.
So I'm diving down from the second story to grab Constantine's sword when one of his archers spot me as I'm jumping...and takes me out mid-air with one arrow. It was pretty bad-ass...for the guard, anyway.
