Hehe... good to hear that I am not alone with this stupid way to die, Moose.
But well, what makes me worry quite a bit is the fact that I tried to stack my flashbombs quite shortly after this experience with the mines... to reach the Apparition that I had shot into the sky (and he was stuck just over the roof of the Cathedral). And then I wondered: (a) why can't I still mantle on the invisible block that he seems to stand on, and (b) why does he whince in pain, whenever I drop a flashbomb on my stack? Needless to say that he disappeared in a small white cloud of smoke after I had dropped my last flashbomb.

This has happened for some people already. To die because the bloody guard opened the door...
In my case the guard walked THROUGH the door! I was pretty amazed as I knew I didnt have much time to knock him out, but I decided to try, as I presumed he would have to get round the opened door...
The guard actually did not see me first, but instead he started to try to walk through me, but as I began to run away I ran into a patrol of three

"The world is a great scale, which must stay in balance, in the face of forces seeking to skew its arms. A collection of knowledge is a set of weights, to be added to one side of the scale or the other, as necassary. Our task is to place the weights, slowly, carefully, over centuries, in order that the balance be preserved."

Can't exactly remember the map (a result of the trauma I guess) but it was high, very high.
All I remember is that damn door, an insidious one you know, one of that kind that strike back! Somehow I was leanin' forwards and back again openin' and closin' the door and BAM!
I found myself 60 feet below standing above my remains and wondering what I did wrong.

Lighthouse elevator. I'm coming up the elevator to go back and find missing loot. I'm just watching the rain fall, enjoying how real looking it is. I notice the crate and say to myself, "gotta pick that up." I walk over to the crate, and SQUISH. I was too close to the wall.

Just did this a couple days ago, in Kidnap.
I'd decided to have a look around all the sites, trying to get all the loot (on Expert). I'd alerted the Launcher Bot, and legged it, dropping a couple of mines after me. Stopped in the shadows near the mines, and waited.
Bot comes round the corner, and suddenly goes off alert before it hits the first mine, and goes back home.
I was a little upset about this, so set about disarming the mines. I sneaked up to the second mine, lockpick at the ready, and started to disarm it.
Suddenly, I hear "'AH HA!' 'Thunk'" as the Mechanist Crosbow woman, who I'd also alerted, slotted me.
As the screen went dark, I thanked God that she hadn't made it even more ironic by missing me and hitting the mine!

You guys die when you play? I get all the way through it on expert with no deaths and no saves. :-)
