Anyway, I was in the kitchen room alone and decided to check up in the rafters to see if there was anything hidden up there. So I shot a rope arrow up there and climbed up, and as soon as I was level with the rafters I instantly died as if someone had hit me with a sword or something (based on the noise I heard). So I thought "that was weird" and reloaded, and I tried the same thing, only to end up getting killed again in the same way. I'm not sure if I ever managed to make it up there or not, and I don't have any savegames at that point so I can't test it out now. Has this happened to anyone else?</STRONG>
Your describing the SHAS. Sudden heart attack syndrome. Its when your doing somthing, ANYTHING, and you suddely die for no reason.

I've heard of that but that's the only time it's happened to me. I didn't think that was what was happening because it happened at least twice in the exact same spot, and from what I understood the SHAS thing was more random than that.

So I'm playing First City Bank and Trust last night. I've managed to sneak into the basement and open the vault without setting off any alarms or alerting any of the bots. As I crouch in the shadows in the room outside the vault mechanism, I notice a metal plate on the wall. Last time I played this mission I had 3 very angry children of karras on my back, so I couldn't stop to examine the scenery. So this time, I'm paying more attention.
There's a blue bot pacing back and forth in the room next door, so I keep to the shadows by the edge of the room as I creep closer and closer to the mysterious panel. I'm almost there, when the panel suddenly opens. From this angle I can't see what is behind it, but I don't need to see inside to be convinced that it's a hidden stockpile of treasure, my well earned reward for not setting off the alarms.
I creep along the wall until I'm directly underneath. Wait until Mr Blue in the other room is facing the other way. And pop my head up to find myself face to face with a cannonball spitting alarm mechanism.
Bang.
D'oh.

My wife and I were playing Blackmail in T2. We were outside, clearing the perimeter of guards, when we come across a patroling archer atop a gate. We climb the ladder, ko her, and drop her over the backside of the gate. We opened the gate and promptly started tailing the patroling swordsman on the other side. Unfortunately, he spotted us. We go zipping up the ladder and watch helplessly as he discovers his friend out cold on the grass. Screaming bloody murder, he starts dashing around like mad trying to get to us. We duck out of site until he returns to his patrol. Then we slip down the ladder, ready the blackjack, and BONG!!!!! " He has a helmet on," my wife says laughing. "That shouldn't work," I say. So there we go up the ladder to wait again until he has calmed down. Again, BONG!!! We rapidly decide to take an alternate route into the building. Now, everytime I go to knock someone out my wife goes, "No metal head. Please, no metal head."
Another one - we were playing Bank (T2), and had made it as far as the Hall of Statues. Having toyed with Dromed 1, we were taking a look at the variety of statues that were in the room. Halfway through the room, I heard an odd noise and spun around, only to catch a couple of cannonballs with my teeth. They didn't even get a chance to go off before Garrett died - the impact alone killed us.

The stupidest one I keep repeating, is to crouch and ease up to the edge of a chasm or roof, or sneak by a guard in a crouch then make a mad run to leap across a gap.
As I swan dive into the boiling lava, or the street 4 stories below I remember that I forgot to stand up. You can't jump for shit from a crouch. LOL

Yeah...Stupid...That would have to be me too.
While in DromEd, I was modifying mission 12 of The Metal Age. (Keep this in mind...I am brand new at editing) So like I was saying, there I was modifying the stack count of gas arrows (1000), and looked at a branch off of that, that was something about cannonballs and firestorms, or whatever. So I thought "cool! I can shoot firestorms with a firearrow" Thinking it would look something like a flamethrower!
Needless to say, I placed the damn thing right in front of Garrett. I went into game mode, fully expecting to use a stellar flamethrower, when lo and behold right above me, there was a cloud of smoke and little balls of flame coming down at me!!!
I died, within a half of a second.....:grr:
PS: Did I mention that when I saw these cool looking firestorms, that I was looking for the stack count along with them? I was going to add 1000!
