Garrett wearing a trenchcoat and serving in the British army during World War I. He is tasked with stealing German tanks and eventually has to battle Emperor Wilhelm Assassin's Creed style.
More awesome ideas.
Imagine if they really did this. You'd all love it.
i would

I've had enough war games to last me a lifetime, to be honest. Most of what drives me to play thief is the setting.

First of all I want to express my great delightfulness considering this new upcoming installment of the Thief-series. I got incredibly excited from reading the good news.
As a long time Thief-fan (formerly known as "Snowboarder" here on TTLG) I would LOVE to see this new installment breath the same (or at least similar) air as the two first games. I really liked Thief 1, and LOVED Thief 2. TDS was not entirely my cup of tea, but fairly OK. The main problem was the loading zones, no swimming, and The City, which in my opinion didn't have the same mystical atmosphere as the previous games did.
I think the loading zones however ruined the feeling the most. Being cut off like that all the time made me really feel I was only playing a game, and not actually sneaking around myself. In some weird way I got really sucked into the atmosphere of first two games, feeling I was part of it. So PLEASE! No loading zones. Even though this has probably been pointed out several times before in this forum, it is a matter of such huge importance that it cannot be mentioned enough.
Another concern of mine is the speculation about whether or not T4 will be put into a modern or medieval setting. For me, personally, a modern setting would almost ruin the game more than loading zones. Thief and the medieval atmosphere goes extremely well together, and a modern setting would probably make me not buy the game (even though I would of course give the demo a try). I hope I am not alone on this one. We already have Splinter Cell for those who prefer modern environments. The game world is full of modern and futuristic settings. No need for another.
For me, as an old school taffer, the 3rd person view was not necessary. A true nightmare would be an elimination of 1st person view. At least have both options available please.
I definitely want swimming back, and i know others share the same opinion. A cool addition to that would be the possibility to get revealed from wet marks in the floor. For example, if you step up from the water and a guard finds the markings, he would get alerted and search for a while.
Rope arrows back That is a far too cool tool to forget about.
Ghosting has to be possible. A real thief is a ghost (even though I like using the blackjack a lot )
Oh yeah, and I'd like to see Garrett back. A female character would not really suit the game. We had one in T2X, and even though it was a great game, I think Thief is not the same without Mr Garrett.
Ok, these are my thoughts for now. I'll turn up later with more thoughts and ideas. Please let me know if you people agree or disagree.

@MaxDZ8:Not really... I don't know what you're getting at. :)
Hint: a certain company (which used to sell hardware) sneaks from behind and stabs the release date with a new software patent they registered yestarday "to ensure users have full experience". True story.

Currently, I wouldn't mind even some inconsistencies. I am one of those who thinks Garret is too important to even
risk screwing him.

Edited: Nevermind; reread the post I quoted in the proper context. My mistake. Apologies.
Need more caffeine.

I'm confused. He's a console tard because he doesn't want console style things in the game?

LOL!
