I know I post a lot of these but I just am curious about things like this:laff:
Also vote for when you first played thief 1 and when you first played thief 2 because it is multiple choice:D

Never played TMA, but I finished the original Dark Project back when I was 8. It was my favourite game of all time.

I played Thief: The Dark Project shortly after it was released. I played Thief: The Metal Age on the day of its release.

Good idea!
So do demos count? And which one would T2 demo "Unwelcome Guest" be as it is an alpha version of T2 level run through T1 engine?
And I would make two polls, just to get separate statistics :)

I played the Thief Demo, then bought Thief Gold, in around 98/99. I have no idea when I bought T2... definitely wasn't on release day, though. I had gotten it for like $10 in a 2-for-1 deal with a Turok game, so I imagine that was quite a few years after its release.

I played the Thief 1 demo in 2000 - it came with copy of Final Fantasy VII (PC). Played Bafford and the training mission to death. Alas, I skipped Thief 1 and dived strait into Thief 2 in 2004. Then I played Thief 3 when it came out and played Thief 1 here and there.
Confession: I've never actually beat Thief 1. "Return to the Haunted Cathedral" scared the bejesus out of me. I reinstalled Thief Gold a few weeks ago and have been replaying casually. Just got to the Mage's Tower last night. It's my mission to finally beat this game! :laff:
That said, I've played a lot of games in my teenage hey-day. Thief and only a few others stand out as games I'll continue to remember / play for a life time.

I bought Thief Gold in February 2001 and have finished it twice. In December 2002 I bought Thief 2, but haven't finished it yet because I got tired of Soulforge.
I haven't touched Thief for 10 years, only to install Thief 2 again in December 2011. :D It was like opening a tomb, a time capsule. Now into fan missions. :D Never played Thief 3, though.

I only needed to place one vote, discovered both gems under same year. :)

Found out about Thief 2 (and 3) in 2009, I'm fairly sure. Bought them both as a re-release two-pack. I got Thief 1 later in 2012 when it came onto Steam.

I did it all back to front. First played T3 in the mid-2000s I guess. Knew nothing about Thief at the time, simply saw the DVD in a supermarket :wot: and was immediately drawn in. Loved the game - and it being the 3rd in the series, I cunningly worked out that there had to be two more... :laff: and to my delight there was! Eventually got the bumper triple pack with Thief Gold... and spent many more nights neglecting my job, family and friends!
Have just recently replayed T2 and am nearing the end of TG. And, of course, I love a good FM too. :thumb:
Thief.... safe to say, my all-time favourite game.
