Out of respect to the authors, my habit has been to release walkthroughs every January. So, like next month, all of 2016 walks will be packaged as a single file and uploaded for public consumption.
I'd like to know how the community feels about this. Personally, I'd like to release them sooner. Otherwise, a mission that was released last January doesn't see anything for 12 months. When the walk IS released, the mission is ancient history, so to speak.
The other negative on the annual release looms in light of GORT's upcoming massive campaign. If it arrives under the Christmas tree in 10 days, it'll take me quite awhile to write a decent doc, delaying all of the other walkthroughs. (Remember, they ship as a package.)
Let me finish by saying, that after 15+ years of sneaking and thieving, it's not gonna matter much. I'm leaning toward releasing the walk 60 days after each FM's release date. Then, in January, the usual annual package of all walkthroughs will be made available and the single ones will be taken off the site.

Personally, I think your last idea sound the most reasonable from the players' perspective, but a bit more work for you. So it's your call. I say do what is easiest and most convenient for you. We're all grateful for the time and effort you put into these, and we'll be happy with whatever you decide, I'm sure.

Fen often posts his 'Lets Play' videos only a few days after the release of a mission and no-one ever complains about them being released too early. Truth is I often find Fen's videos a God send (that's not to say Fen is a God, but others may disagree with me) so I say the early the better.

Earlier the better no need to wait till January, release them as you finish them and then just bundle them together at the end of the year or early January of the following year. You do great work for this community, keep it up but don't run yourself into the ground either.

maybe break up the walk through released ever quarter
eery 3 months,so you not bogged down by work load of 3 months of fan missions and people at longest would have to wait 3 months/even though boards will probably have most answers on them by then
anything longer then 3 month wait seems kinda useless =for current players but when people start with missions now ,its a welcome site not to have to look through forums to get a answer
but you do the decision that is best for you
also if you do it every quarter file size will be alot less for people getting it
good luck with what ever you do
me personally i like the boards

I often read discussion threads on fan missions if I run into problems that make me go in circles a little too long.
I get a lot from that if I read them carefully enough, but too often I don't.
Still, I think the FMs could either be discussed for a while and if no discussion does happen or it is minimal, a prescribed time could go by before releasing a full walkthrough.
I do enjoy Fen's video walkthroughs, and they are usually in beat with the average player's time consumption shortly after a new FM is released. His walkthroughs provide entertainment on their own as well. :joke: :laff:
It does seem as though when and if a walkthrough is released the timing on them has been pretty good.

This sounds perfect. Waiting 3/6/9 months seems pointless as most players will have played the mission already. But some authors don't want hints in their thread too early, so 2 months sounds just about right. And it's not like you need to finish every walk at the 60 day mark, but if it is ready to go, then release it.

Works for me. Whatever you choose to do, the walkthroughs are very much appreciated.

OK. I'll release them throughout the year, 2 months after release (that's a moving target, BTW). I'm 65, and the thought of dropping dead in December, after doing all that work for a year, would really piss me off.:p

I have always appreciated your walkthroughs Ricebug. I know its a bit late but I say release them when you want. If you have it done days later go ahead and release it. If not then when ever you get it done is fine. No time tables attached. I say this because I don't want you dropping dead in December either or any other time for that matter. So again do them at your own pace.
