When the game reads your mind... - by Weasel

Yesterday I re-watched the Zero Punctuation review of Thief: (
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/544-Thief-The-Dark-Project)
and noticed during the end credits the following story:
Quote:
Once a guard saw me so I hopped back into the shadows and the guard yelled "DON'T THINK YOU CAN JUST HOP BACK INTO THE SHADOWS, BOY" which impressed both myself and my dry cleaner.
Then last night I was watching my girlfriend Alison play Down in the Bonehoard (I recently introduced her to the game) and when she entered the first Burrick caves she mused "where am I?" and immediately pulled up the map to find out. The text "Where am I?" had been added to the map and highlighted as her current position! She yanked her earbuds out and nearly jumped out of the chair. I had to help her calm down before she could continue playing.
Has anyone else had their mind read by one of the Thief games?
P.S.: Alison eventually finished the mission and thoroughly enjoyed it, despite or maybe because of how scary it was.

Your girlfriend Alison seems to have some kind of anxiety disorder.

I'm exaggerating a little bit. I'm sure she would have recovered on her own. The point is, she was playing a mission that was tense and scary already, and then the game screen showed the exact same words she had just said aloud.

Sure, you can have imaginary conversations with the game. I know I do. But what does it say about you? :joke: Not too far from a malkavian.

I talk to the AI and the screen all the time. What scares me is that sometimes it does answer.

Well, yeah.
In DS, when pursued by some watchmen, I clomb atop a wall, and leant back contentedly in my chair, watching the guards shaking their fists at Garrett, with a smug grin on my face.
Whereupon Benny said "Dontcha look so smug!"
A bit creepy, 'twas.

What if you come home from a party wearing your fancy clothes, you fire up TDP and one of Bafford's ninny servants shouts: "Help! He's got a bow!"
