Haven't tinkered with Thief 2 10 years and don't even have copies of all my old files, have a sudden urge to build something.

Welcome back. Whatever it is, build it.
:D

basically have to rebuild my resource collection from scratch. found my old missions, have a back up of my old website, and all the materials i posted there and started on a new texture library, there are a lot of tools i'll need eventually, but first i need to get the basics working again.
things i've heard,
1. the polygon count has gone up?
2. texture resolutions are higher?

Those limits were increased for version 1.19. The latest version is 1.27
The NewDark download contains a file called modders_notes which explains things in detail.

Someone's about to have a "Welcome to the world of tomorrow!" moment when they fire up NewDark DromEd.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CpRJHf4wnR-WlTO3jsZmIHLJY64sSFs5/view?usp=drive_linkmind blowers so far, 2k textures, small UI improvements, texture palette.
remembering a lot more than i expected, animate lights, object tricks, texture alignment trick.
if the link above works that's my practice area, few hours of work. otherwise click here: (
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CpRJHf4wnR-WlTO3jsZmIHLJY64sSFs5/view?usp=drive_link) it is gamma boosted to about 1.8 to make it easier to see.
EDIT 1: Ok, more mind blowers.
1. .dds textures with .mtl files, the render_pass parameters alone like blend and the others env_map, illum map, already seeing ways to use these parameters for shiny glass surfaces, illuminated windows that don't illuminate the frames, smooth transitions to a debris texture over a street. things i would have done with objects, though arguments can be made for applying this to object windows with reflection and illumination as a light and sounds source for increased realism.
2. a slew of new properties in the gamesys including little quality of life ones like making an object block you from frobbing objects behind it
3. can set the sound bleed through level of doors when leaning in
4. bunch of new motion schema, and scripts to modify how attached objects move relative to a mesh that is moving

Welcome back Jason! One new feature that significantly helps with larger maps is the max polygons has been raised to (forgot number) but seeing lots of terrain at once isn't much of an issue anymore.

Might you reupload your resources somewhere? I was curious about using them.
