If you're a video game design team, of course, you go to an ex-designer for the
Thief series and, also, a fan of that series.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will soon be upon us, and, like its predecessor, will have a stealth system...
but of what quality? As anyone who played
Morrowind knows, the stealth aspect was a bit...how do you say...underdeveloped.
Will this be the same for
Oblivion?
It doesn't look like it:

Hmn i think it is more realistic to point at a certain NPC and see on an icon whether he can see you or not, than the thief like method. Though a combination of both would be the best in my oppinion.
Morrowind was an rpg and the sneaking was less sneaking but rather for pickpocketing purposes, which worked great for me!! :cheeky: I am a bit afraid that oblivion woun't be a rpg anymore, but some game of all genres. I'd like to have a morrowind 2, but perhaps oblivion will still be much better. We'll see....
But I must say that i am a true fan of the elders scrolls series and morrowind is my favorite game forever.

Morrowind was good, it had the beautiful environments that RPG's can always benefit from, but the NPC aspect and general scripting was paper thin.
Oblivion stands to correct the flaws of Morrowind. Having full speech alone is the one thing that could have saved Morrowind. As far as thieving in Oblivion, obviously Emil has a much better shot this time around, since the X-Box 360 has far more resourses available than any other console *by far*.
I, for one, am holding my breath until this game comes out. I will be purchasing it for the 360, and will completely forego the PC version.
Everything sounds real good, of course, but until March we can only wait and drool.

"Realistic" does not mean what you think it means.

What exactly do you mean by "saved"? That game still was sold very well... :) It didn't boom, but it kept bethesda over water and it is still the best rpg out until now. I never saw such a vast and well planned universe in a game before.
And i think i know what realistic means. Imagine you were a thief. You would see how visible you were by looking how much you are enlighted and looking at an enemy's behavior. q.e.d. :cheeky:

If in your real life you see icons pop up over people's heads, I recommend you lay off the drugs.
