I've had pretty good use out of mediafire but photo bucket is one of those sites that floods the page with ads and attempts to play a video ad that doesn't really work too well.
I stopped asking people to host my missions simply because they chose to do so on my behalf and it's very much appreciated. I haven't been able to download anything from thiefmissions lately but it might be a problem with my browser.

The thiefmissions download issue is affecting everyone, and supposedly epithumia is working to fix it if he hasn't already.

What puzzles me is that I have approximately 900 FMs in FMSel, the vast majority of which I have played through. I have played older missions and recent missions. Until recently, I have had no trouble downloading from Southquarter; but now nobody seems to include that downloader... and since then, starting a couple months ago, I cannot load any new FMs.
The most recent I've been able to load include Coaxing the Spirit, IronHeart, Shadows of the Past, and Watery Grave. Post WG, I haven't been able to load or play anything.
I did not change anything in my configuration; yet the list above worked fine and did not have any problem with FMSel sitting inside E:\Games\ThiefInstallations\Thief2\thief2.exe.
Nothing is changed... except I can't load or play any new FM now. Yes, the older ones still work fine.
I'm looking at an FM right now, T2 fm: Darkstone gem chapter 2, part 1: Nobles and Craftsmen. As I skim through the pages on TTLG, I see several downloaders, including Southquarter (post 15, first page).
1. I click on the blue-colored Southquarter link.
2. A small window opens up with "Save File" selected; I click OK to save.
3. Eventually, I see a blue arrow pointing down from the top of the page (for Firefox).
4. I find the game inside FMSel; this one shows up as N&C.
5. I double-click the N&C game and it goes directly to the Thief 2 game. Thereafter, I can return to the game just by double-clicking on that game.
I just click the link, save the file, and I'm good to go. To me, that is simplicity itself. But for the newer games -- none of which have Southquarter or the (defunct) Thiefmissions downloaders -- I cannot figure out how to use the public downloaders; they seem difficult to me.
(As a check, I deleted my previous version of Darkstone gem chapter 2, then re-saved it; it still works fine, using Southquarter. That indicates it's not a problem in my system, since the previously saved FMs still work normally.)
I much prefer a downloader I don't have to think about! SQ seems about perfect to me.
But when I'm confronted with several other downloaders I've never used and know nothing about, I'm stumped. I have no idea how to turn the link into a workable game which I can just play without angst.
As to NewDarkLoader, maybe I'll get the hang of it eventually; there seem to be a lot of fiddly bits, and I'll have to save my current setup in another drive, just in case it doesn't work.

What's funny is I haven't been to thiefmissions in months, and in the process of updating LS1 with French I noticed I didn't have the zip file anymore. I'm sure it's backed up on a CD or DVD though.
Dafydd the site you download missions from shouldn't affect your ability to play them. I've downloaded missions from various sites and put them in my ThiefFMs folder and they play fine.

Dafydd - you're saying a lot of confusing things, so let me ask a few questions to hopefully clear things up...
-You keep referring to "downloaders" - I assume you just mean a link to download a file? Usually the term "downloader" refers to a separate application used to download a large number of files.
-After you download files from the web, do you know where they are located on your computer?
-You've said several times you cannot load newer FMs. Does this mean they aren't showing up in FMSel? Or are the files not downloading to your computer at all?
-The process you've described for downloading and playing Nobles and Craftsmen should work with any download link. So in the cases it's not working, what exactly is happening? Are you getting an error message?
-Have you tried downloading some of the newer missions from the Southquarter FMs page? ((
http://www.southquarter.com/fms)) Just because they aren't listed in a mission's thread here on TTLG doesn't mean they aren't available from the site.

Sounds to me like you are having issues with your current T2 installation. I would recommend that you do a complete reload of T2 to another folder (lets say t22016 for instance), then apply the latest tafferpatcher with the latest new dark. Verify that it runs OK. Then copy that entire folder to yet another location (maybe called T2Backup). Now you will start using the t22016 as the primary T2 installation. In case something ever happens, you can just delete the T22016, and copy entire backup to a new folder, rename that and you will have a clean install. This is in case your primary installation becomes corrupt or messed up in some way. Hopefully this is not to confusing, my instructions. I cannot believe you actually have 900+ missions in FMsel. Wow. It is amazing it even runs..

Rustmite,
I don't think so. Yesterday, really really late night, I monkeyed around enough and I finally was able to get the Spear of Destiny working properly.
Part of my problem was those damnable commercial messages that cluster around me while I'm trying to turn my link into a Thief game. The adverts are so complex, especially when they're videos, that they severely gum up my attempt to get the game started.
I also figured out how to kill the commercial reasonably quickly. The ad generally starts in its own window, behind the main window. If I try to move it to foreground and then kill it, it never works for me; it becomes a hot mess, with crashings and bashings and a frozen computer.
But if I minimize the main window first, then kill the (now revealed) advertisement, that seems to work. Then I restore the main window, and I'm able to continue to the point of the actual game.
Thanks everyone... but I still prefer something easily understood -- and without advertising! -- like Southquarter.

One word: AdBlockPlus. Your browsing experience will never be the same.

Southquarter - Upgraded...
Been working on this for the past week or two, but I've updated the download page at Southquarter. It uses an SQL database now, as opposed to a plain old HTML page. Makes it much easier to search and find stuff, and much easier for me to enter new data. I'm still tweaking it a bit here and there, but it basically works so I decided to switch it over. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, feel free.
Searching is easy, just throw a word or three into the top "Quick Search" bar and the results come up. You can also do more complex searches using the "Filter" button.
