Which books, movies and other games are recommendable for fans of the world of thief? - by DreadLord

Greetings,
For a very long time I have been searching for other media which offers (nearly) the same style/setting/atmosphere as the Thief universe....
I know that the Thief setting is unique but there must some other fictional universes which have at least a bit of this atmosphere......
Now I dont mean necessarely other thief/stealth stories but "just" nearly the same scenario......
I found some stuff but it isnt very satisfying at all....
Games:
+Eternal Darkness
(Does somebody knwo it? Now it hasnt much to do with thief at all but the combination of Lovecraft´ian elements, zombies, glyph-magic (!), and historic settings and a interesting plot reminds me a bit of Thief)
Movies:
+From Hell
+The name of the rose
Of course both havent much to do with Thief at all but both offer a dark, morbide, athmospheric world where are the same historic buildings/architectue
(NotR=Dark Age/Gothic elements/FH=Old 19th century London)
Books:
+Pillars of earth (?)
well thats not a very good exemple at all....The only similarity is the middle-age setting....
Now does someone of you knows better things?

books that I've read that are about thieves:
--The Legend of Nightfall
--Thieves Guild by Jeff Crook
--Luck in the Shadows and the two books after them by Lynn Flemming or something. I haven't read more than half a book so far, but it might be good.

There's not too much literature about thieves, since the writes already know before they publish, that their books are going to get robbed. *Chuckles*
Ok that one was dry..
Hmm.. Actually, now when you think about it. I don't think there's too much books about thieves, or the fantasy world around them in the first place. Well maybe something like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell -of course, but I don't think that's part of the the whole "fantasy" literature, is it now?
Ow wait.. That one also falls under "sneaking around" category.. Rats...

There's a lot of fantasy books out there really, you just have to go to store big enough to sell them. Walmart has a small book area for example and holds mostly romances and stuff. Barnes and Nobles is a good place to look, the one near me has two bookshelves full of fantasy! Walden Books is a good place too.

Well, with fantasy I was morelike colouring the world that the actual "Thief universe" is in. I am aware there are a lot of fantasy books out there, and I'm not totally blind not to be able to see any around at my place either. However, I don't think there is too many books about thieves in the medieval times, is there now? Though, if you happen to know any known titles, and some titles you might recommedent yourself, please... Give me some pointers. I might be very interested in some of the most precious ones :)

Can't really think of any books... I don't read much fantasy.
Here's a few songs that remind me of Thief tho:
"The Crows" by Dark Lotus
A horrorcore rap song with a really nice hymn-like chorus and a dark feel too it.
"Sit Down. Stand up" by Radiohead
I listened to the "Hail to the thief" album while I played Morrowind... which is pretty Thief-esque.
"Italian Leather Sofa" by Cake
They laugh, they make money
He's got a gold watch
She's got a silk dress and healthy breasts
that bounce on his Italian leather sofa
Sound like any lovely couple we know? That's right! The Trickster and Victoria. Totally!
"Baby got back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot
Coz Garrett got a great ass.

.... books: why, (ok, I know some of you saw this one coming.....oh well......) LOTR, of course!! :cheeky:
There's also the "Shanara" series by Terry Brooks.
For laughs there's the "Myth" series by Robert Asprin.

I love the Shannara series! Or is it Shanarra? After all the books I've read I still can't remember.
