FMSel

DarkLoader still. It knows the difference between TG and T2 (albeit with some help sometimes) and doesn't take up so much hdd space in it's operations.
Voodoo strikes me as a talented, dedicated person who is informative and patient with people who know far less than he (?) does. But on Darkloader w/ Newdark the info is nebulous. 'There is *stuff* going on that you can't see and probably won't notice, but it's bad and you shouldn't use DL with ND'
IDK... a difference that makes no difference is no difference in this case IMO. I suspect we'll all go to FMSel and NewDarkLoader when we all migrate to the newer OS's as time goes on.
(Which means that TG, TMA and Ttlg will be around for a long time! :thumb:)

Looks like a pretty even split between Darkloader & FMsel with NDL running in third, but those who have migrated to NewDarkloader seem pretty convincing that NDL is the way forward, so maybe it won't be in third place for long.
* Darkloader 7
* FMsel 8
* NewDarkloader 4
As for why I have 900+ missions in my folder....a few years back a picked up a serious virus from Photobucket and 80% of my files got scrambled forcing me to take my computer back to factory settings, so I lost all my Darkloader notes. When I got involved in updating the Mission by Type thread I just loaded everything into FMsel with the intention of going through them all one day and categorizing all my T2 missions into Rubbish / Ok, but no need to play again / The Best.....but i have never got around to it...O well maybe one day :D
As for marbleman's idea of unzipping the contents into a new folder and naming that folder what ever you wish, never would have crossed my mind to do that, but once I have finished updating the T3 walks I intend to finish with FMsel and join team NewDarkloader :thumb:

"persistent". even a half dead baboon will become (moderately) good at something if doing it for long enough.

*stuff* going on
-need to edit cfgs manually to make sure T1/TG missions work properly
-data is copied around
-dmls are ignored
pretty sure you would find more stuff around the forum, but those three alone should be enough to make regular people stay away - but if you want to accept the risks then by all means. as long as you don't post downwinder style tantrums all over the forum.

I'll probably never have 900+ missions :)
Also, what is wrong with creating a folder for each FM and unzipping the archives into them? It's clean, and FMSel displays the folder name (whatever you name it).
That´s what I´ve been doing since the first days with FMSel.

I am still using DarkLoader 4.3 Final in my case.

I tried NDL just this week after people were very adamant about the shortcomings of DarkLoader.
However, I had severe language display problems, though, as I have a German Thief 2 version installed and running FMs without German language support displayed invisible characters in the mission goals and in-game readables. In other words: It was unusuable for me. (Folks that simply use English installations won't have this problem, obviously so YMMV)
FMsel doesn't have this problem but I'm really missing the nice large text windows in the lower part of the program windows.

If you do file-based backups (vs. sector-based ones) you will needlessly delay the backup process as hundreds of missions will result in tens of thousands of additional files.
In other words: You should think long and hard about this idea. Unless you don't do backups anyway...

If I really like a mission what I do is to .crf the fam, obj, mesh, snd, strings, etc folders so that instead of having 500 files in fam folder for example I end up only having one file (fam.crf)
fam.crf
mesh.crf
snd.crf
etc

I use NewDarkloader

I use FMSel.
Prior to NewDarkloader being released I had already meticulously tagged every single mission as I played them (all 1000 or so). So I'd prefer not to change anything. I'm sure it's great though.
