Autumn in Lampfire Hills
Calendra's Cistern
Calendra's Legacy
CoSaS 2 (Mission X)
Inverted Mansion
Sepulchre of the Sinistral
Broken Triad
As for T2X, some missions of T2X were great (The Cure f.e.) but as the whole it wasn't hard, dark, or mystic enough for my taste, too sterile I would say.

Thief 1 & 2. As much as I love many FMs, I don't think there are any that should influence the design of Thief 4.
And we have a winner! :cheeky:

Sorry Yandros; but I thoroughly disagree. I don't think I'm alone when it comes to fearing that T4 might end up being another TDS. Like it or not, I think the majority of Thief fans were seriously disappointed by the 3rd Thief game for a multitude of reasons.
Since the T4 gang @ Eidos seem to really be interested in our input, why not take advantage of the chance to express our opinions to make sure T4 doesn't go the same way as TDS or end up an FPS set in a ghetto in the modern day? I think the devs would definitely benefit from playing some of the FMs our authors have created as well as from playing TDP & TMA. Imho, DP & MA contained the essence of what Thief & Garrett were all about. The FMs are examples of not only the dedication Thief fans have for those games (TGold included), but the possibilities and potential that exist in creating a Thief game that we Taffers would really want to play again and again. There are FMs that illustrate the fantastic graphics, custom objects & sound, as well as the more traditional. All in all, I think the devs can only benefit from using TDP, TMA, & our FMs as references in their creation of T4.

While you may think that'd be a good idea, I gotta stand with Yandros on this one. They should stick to canon and appreciate the hard work our FM teams have done some other way, like an SDK at launch. Otherwise, we'll end up with some skewed version of Thief that only a minority of taffers could truly enjoy.

Once again, I disagree. I honestly don't see how using TDP, TMA & our FMs as references would cause the T4 devs to end up with 'some skewed version of Thief that only a minority of taffers could truly enjoy'. I'm not saying the devs should incorporate parts, bits, & pieces of the FMs, T1 & T2 into T4; just that I think they'd benefit from the experience of playing them in getting a fix on what the Thief world is all about and what die-hard fans expect. Hell; just from reading the threads in the Thief IV Anticipation forum they'd be able to determine the general 'feelings' and expectations of Thief fans. I'm very thankful that according to what I've read, the T4 devs are looking for input from us Taffers!
It worries me to think that the T4 devs might create a T4 without even understanding the world of Thief in the first place. Imho that mistake was illustrated with TDS.

Yes, but the "world of Thief" doesn't include fan missions. To take a hypothetical example (using one of my own to avoid any accusations of being a git), say someone says "I really like that fan mission From Beneath the Sands, it's what I really want from an undead mission". Then those happy chappys at Eidos Montreal come along and play the mission, and say "Ah, so Egyptian stuff is in with the kids these days? Cool, lets do Egypt Thief." It'd be a disaster.
Yes that's an extremely simplified example that doesn't really give anyone any credit, but you could apply the same scenario to almost any fan mission and end up with a Thief 4 that just isn't Thief.

I agree in as much as most of the most famous FMs or campaigns/expansion sets IMHO aren't completely thievy, either concerning their dimensions, their romantic blur, their understanding of (canonical) reason or their direction to "improve" the game or take it further. They might be great and immersive and all that, but they almost always take me away from what the original games made me feel.
There's nothing against it basically, I like to see the plurality of views concerning Thief (and I'd like to see a general consensus of respect towards them) and I don't think it would hurt too much if the devs had a look at those works (and also artworks, songs and whatever we have hosted) but I think it would be unwise to say anyone "should" play FMs or rely on this only-we-know-what-Thief-is-so-bugger-off-you-evil-commercial-beast attitude.

I think the devs would take the "feel" of your mission rather than the specific setting. At least, they hopefully would.

Start with TDP as a foundation. Everything else should be used to amp up what TDP accomplished, and make it feel like the first time all over.:sly:
