I tryed Thief: Deadly Shadows once and I thought it was boring (I didn't get very far though) and I was wondering if the other games were better.

I guess the question would be "what did you find boring about it?"

T2 (buy), then T2X (download) - get 'em. I still haven't finished TDS yet, and it's been how long?????
You won't be disappointed with those, I guarantee it.

Solabusca said it, I think. Depends on what sort of games you like. I have never managed to get into TDS though I've tried many times. It's just not immersive for me and I don't really like the gameplay. I have to admit that I hadn't played many games before. Some point and click stuff and Resident Evil on Dreamcast which I loved.
And Hit Deity too is also right. I was a given a present of a 5 quid (weird keyboard, can't find the pound sign) Sold Out Thief Dark Project and then I bought Sold Out Thief Metal Age and I just loved becoming completely involved in the character and what was going on. The variety of style of play is fantastic - it can suit the chickens like me or the shoot-em-up types too!
And then I found this site for fan missions and I've been playing pretty much non stop for 6 years. TDP graphics are not good on my machine so I stick to TMA and Thief Gold fms. You can get Thief DP and MA for next to nothing these days so well worth having a go. And you couldn't meet a nicer lot of people in a forum if you tried! (Mostly :cheeky: )

I played all three of them, I have to say, Thief I was the first computer game that made me screamed out loud and gotten my family up from their bed time.
It was a really creative piece of game design at it's time, there was not many games like it.
I am currently going though Thief III, it's the second best for me out of the three, since the story seems pretty tight with the other two, and the environment of the Thief world is always dark and "realistic" in my view, it's just a very matured, well written story and communication.
I love TDS for it's third person view as well.
I have not found anything like Thief since Thief, so I am back playing them even after all this time.

As others have said, it depends what kind of games you like. Do you like to take your time and explore, outwit the NPCs and sneak around in the shadows? Or do you like to run through a level, killing everything in sight and blowing things up?
If you like the first, then the Thief games are for you. If you like the second, you'll be bored by them.
The whole idea of the Thief games is to avoid outright confrontations. On the lower difficulty levels, you can kill the guards from the shadows before they even know you're there, however the higher levels usually don't let you kill anyone, just knock them out. However, the games (the first two at least) should be played on the highest difficulty level, or you'll miss additional parts of the levels and extra things to do.

If you've only played and didn't like Thief Deadly Shadows, it's unlikely you'll care for the others.

If you've only played and didn't like Thief Deadly Shadows, it's likely you have higher standards than ToolFan.

Would I be able to find Thief 2 easily at a gamestop?

If you've only played and didn't like Thief Deadly Shadows, you are not Zylon Bane, because he doesn't like Thief Deadly Shadows without even having played it.
