Haven't been around here in a while, but was looking on opinions about some games.
out of these three, which one would you guys recommend
1. F.E.A.R gold edition
2. crysis
3. Witcher
system specs are:
core 2 duo 2.33 ghz, 2 gig ram and 8600 gt vid card.
And if it helps, some of my favorite games would be Deus ex, HL, VTMB, SS2 and bioshock.
Thanks in advance.

3,2,1, in terms of how good I think they are, but 2 of your picks are FPS, so it depends on what you're in the mood to play.

F.E.A.R. is one of those games you either love or hate, and it really seems to rely on whether a somewhat repetitive game bothers you or not. I personally think it's great- the settings aren't anything special but they don't really have to be- and in any case there's a clear progression. The combat is fun enough that I don't really have any problem fighting the same guys over and over.
Crysis? Fuck Crysis. If I'm going to play Crysis I'll play Farcry. Which isn't happening by the way.

Everyone of these games have a demo out. So I'd advise you to try those.
Personally I'd pick The Witcher. But to be honest, I only played the demos of the other two.
Apart from the aforementioned differences in gameplay (FPS versus 3rd person RPG), there are also huge differences in the setting.
The Witcher has a high fantasy / sword-and-sorcery setting, though it uses a fresh perspective.
F.E.A.R. has a contemporary, japanese horror feel to it.
Crysis has more of a Scifi feel to it.
So given the games you like, I'd say F.E.A.R or Crysis are more your cup of tea.
Try the demos.

Have you actually played Crysis? If not, then do so and judge it on its own fucking merits.

Every time you pick FEAR or Crysis over The Witcher a mothra dies.
Seriously, The Witcher is fantastic. FEAR is good if you dig the formula and Crysis is best played on a system with far more horsepower than your's. Witcher will run well with medium-high settings on your rig..but the graphics are quite overshadowed by the gameplay, decent as they are.

Yes, yes I have. And it sucks.

smf, all 3 of these games have demos out.
Everybody's made valid points, but I don't think we have enough data on what you actually liked in that list of games you've mentioned.
I'd suggest you try out at least the FEAR and Crysis demos, because they're pretty good at indicating what kind of experience you're likely to have with the game(s) in question.

I personally can't stand The Witcher.
A completely unlikeable main character. Stupid quests that send you running as far as possible on your current map, just to pick up a minor trinket for some random uninteresting NPC. And it's wrapped up in a completely unengaging plot.
The combat system is the only semi-positive thing, but it takes too long before it gets actually interesting to use.
Out of the three games mentioned, I'd only recommend F.E.A.R., and it's not a high recommendation either.

If you enjoy FPS then you absolutely HAVE to play Crysis. That game is fucking amazing, although you should definitely bump up the difficulty if you want to get the most out of it. Out of the three it's my top recommendation. And my computer is pretty much exactly yours minus a gig of RAM and Crysis ran perfectly fine 99% of the time. 1024 * 768 resolution with all medium settings plus motion blur, and the only considerable slowdown is the intro where you parachute in (it drops to crazy low frames per second, but as soon as you land it's smooth sailing until the end).
Far Cry? I couldn't get into that game AT ALL. I played the demo for ten minutes and decided that I'd have more fun jabbing forks into my eyes. Crysis is pretty much nothing like Far Cry. The most noticeable addition it has is that it totally fucking rocks. I don't really get why I couldn't get into Far Cry, it's nothing against the game, but I just didn't enjoy it.
Dethtoll is right about FEAR, though. It depends almost entirely on whether you get bored easily of repetition. You're doing the same thing over and over, but for me that thing happens to be some of the most refined FPS combat I've ever seen. Try not to rely too much on the slow-mo, I found that it made the game way too easy and lowered the suspense.
You can DL the demos too, of course. Both the demos for FEAR and Crysis are a pretty good representation of the games.
