I'm new to this serious and just completed Thief GOLD. What is your favorite Thief game and why?

Well I think I already posted something similar, but since you asked I would for sure have to say Thief 1/GOLD as the game is far better than Thief 2 if you ask me and has just so much more magic to it and gives you the feels if you are like me and love the nostalgic feels :laff:

Indeed, Thief Gold gets my vote. It was one of the first games I ever played as a young 'un and will still be my favorite when I'm eighty. It's rich in lore, atmospheric, and the haunted levels are my favorite. Return to the Cathedral is the tightest level in entire series, hands down.

Thief Gold hands down. I haven't played Thief 4, only watched videos, but I don't have to play it to know it won't beat the original for me.
'The Sword' is my favorite mission.

Thief 2 The Metal Age for sure, imo. I'm more of a techie and the zombies and shit just annoyed me.

although if thief 2 would have not have that double of the same mission,that might have changed my view or if thief 2 gold would have came out ,that might have been the deal breaker
but thief 1/gold is the top
i feel the first game had best in game feeling,just think about the first time you got to the last level in thief 1 the maw and what a great feeling that was to make it to the end,and the ending cut scene left me looking forward to part 2,but strange thing is part 2 came out way to fast,i would to of like to seen a few years put into it,then it would have been the best

I completely agree, you could tell that the second half of the game was a bit lacking and increasingly sparse, right down to the copied Missions. If they spent another solid half year finishing up the polish, it could have been as great as Dark Project, but regardless, the game was a freakin' classic in its own right.
The original team still riding on the richly creative tidal wave of Dark Project. A juggernaut to be sure, and a pretty fair forgery. If anything, the game plays like an exciting first person medieval fantasy shooter, with a bow, complete with tons of Mechanists and robots to do battle with, again, especially in those later Missions!

dont get me wrong i love thief 2 as well,it just needed as you said more polish,if you saw in my post i put thief 2 gold,which would have been the polished version i think
