Dark Project by a country mile because it's the only one that made a shred of sense

Same here. Also, I liked the mood and atmosphere that DP gave. It brought a sense of mystery to Thief. MA seemed too linear and DS just lacked that smack of luster that LGS gave.

The cutscene in Dark Project, where Garrett loses his eye, still sends shivers down my spine, when thinking about it.
Anyway, Thief 1 definitely wins this poll, as far as i'm conserned.

Although this sorta thing is always hard to decide for me, I've gone with metal age. I loved the DP and DS storylines too, but they didn't have the charm that Karras's evil had. His was a lot more subtle; stead of destroying everyone in his way he slowly brought about his power until he was the ruling force of the City, for all practical purposes anyway.
Still MA only won by a small margin. I loved the spooky charm that came with DS and DP levels almost as much. Then again, my opinion will probably change in a few hours time anyway. One of those things you just can't decide.

the religion which takes power little by little by having the nobles on their side, and Karras' madness on top of that... Surely the best villain I ever saw, or at least my favourite one :p
Yeah, Karras is definitely the best villain of the three games. :)

I hated the storyline of T2. Curse me! What the *** ? I played Thief -the dark project, after that bought Thief - the metal age. And I definitely expected something better! I disliked the whole mechanist idea, lack of undead, the robots were incredibly dull and not-suitable for a medieval game, most of the levels were mediocre. And so many thigns I have explained in (

Thief 2x, howeverm was enjoyable.

I'm completely stuck between T1 and T2. I think Metal Age had more potential, but the story was broken up into chunks of missions instead Dark Project, where the story is much more coherent, although didn't contain the pure evil that Karras installed into TMA.
