Back in the day her music was all over clubs, blasting out. It is sad, such a waste of talent.

If she would have died at 27 she would have been immortalized. But I guess it doesn't work like that after a long road downhill. RIP. She's still the gold standard while she was in her prime.

Im not entirely surprised, but man does this sadden me. I always thought she had the perfect voice, and just had such a sweet look. :(

If only it were Celine Dion instead.
RIP Whitney, I'll always remember you for inspiring my sister to wear those ridiculous basketball hoop earrings in the 80s.

It's sad that she died so young, as it's always sad when someone goes so early. But I've never cared for her voice or her songs. In fact I'd go so far as to say I dislike them. I always found the songs boring and just a little vapid, and that vibrato voice thing she did was always like nails on a blackboard to me.
But her singing surely wasn't the most important thing about her, it was wasn't what made her her. It was sad to see her have so many personal problems and one can only hope she'd found some peace before the end. RIP.

Top comment on that video: "Houston, we have a problem".
Oh, man. Don't ever change youtube assholes.

I always thought she was a lot older than that, weirdly. Even though I never cared for most of what she sang she seemed to exude class and maturity somehow. Although if you followed the gossip mags you could probably pull a quote or two to dispell that impression.
Interesting how the press has dealt with it. With Amy Winehouse it was as though she'd suffered enough, so they lead with the good shots and mixed some of the bad ones in later. All the Whitney stories I've read are like "Here's Whitney looking like shit. And Again! And look at this fat cross-eyed number. Hoo boy!". It's weird.

Might have something with the fact that Houston was more or less largely forgotten and her troubles didn't really register in the nat'l/world subconscious, so the media is playing catchup.
Hate to say it, but it might also be to do with skin color.
