I had my first computer experiences from this place but about 30 years earlier. We never had 4 subs in the same dry dock at once that I remember. The main frame computers were about the size of one of these submarines with guys like LarryG doing the actual input into the main frame system. I didn't really know how all this worked at the time. I could use a green screen monitor to access a limited search which was actually read only that were at various locations throughout the shipyard. One day I was trying to locate some piping and the computer screen went down. I typed in WTF #$)(*@#)$*%* or something like that. The computer RESPONDED!!!! ....Quit your bitching you little creep!.... Now I had a really WTF moment! Well I guess that is when I figured there was somebody at main frame about a mile away who saw what a wrote and decided to have some fun.

When the work is done on these subs you could take a white glove to any surface of the interior of the reactor compartment. The torpedo room is another matter. I am retired now, 62 going on 12. DarthsLair has probably driven past this place a few times.

Well, I guess it's my turn now :p
My name is Steffen, I'm 26.
I'm a PhD student in the field of computer science; software engineering to be specific.
Besides that, I'm also interested in game programing which has been a part time activity to earn my living. My current work is focused on software maintenance, program comprehension, and tool development.
Appart from that, I like hiking, reading (mostly Sci-Fi, e.g. Jules Verne or "Der Schwarm" [The Swarm] from Frank Schätzing), science in general, and a lot of other stuff.
My first Thief experience was playing the Thief 2 demo shipped with a CD by some computer magazine. I really got hooked to the game back then, like most of you here :thumb:
I personally prefer missions which reward explorative gameplay; I'm not so fond of playing puzzle missions though.
And there can never be such a thing as too much ships in a FM. I don't know why, but I found ships and submarines to be very fascinating ever since. It's no big surprise that Shipping and Receiving and Precious Cargo are among my favourite missions.
Over the last couple of years, ttlg.com became one of my most favourite places on the internet thanks to people like you. It almost feels like my 2nd home from time to time...

3 months getting fog to work is dedication above and beyond the call of duty! And even better you're a UK marvel. :)
Very impressive credentials there - congratulations on your BAFTA win. Wow!
And I agree about the 'je ne sais quois' - pity you can't discover what it is and bottle it.
I "gave up" a few times during that three-month period on getting fog to work but luckily stuck at it long enough to find the issue in the end! It's one of those things that are extremely simple once discovered but a bi**h to find.
The BAFTA win was incredibly exciting as it's the highest award in the UK entertainment industry. Getting a AAA game out of the door requires a large team effort, and the BAFTA win was for the Team, but I was especially happy to have worked on the graphics engineering side and hence my work is very visible. :cheeky: I was involved in the entire shader pipeline from 3DSMax into the game and touched all the shaders used in the game and writing shaders for all the eye-candy is fun. BTW Those BAFTA trophy's are darn heavy as well!

The handle I go by is Fizbop I'm 36 years old and have a Bacholars' of Science in Game Design. I'm currently in California looking for work. About 1 year ago give or take a month or two. I found a Thief box set for sale. It intreeged me and so I purchased it. I've been playing it and looking forward to Thief 4. While playing Thief 3 I met a couple of people that I wanted to know and friend. They were jtr7, and Vae. I was in school at college at the time and these two people were my guiding light into the world of thief. I took a hiatus for several months only to find my two friends where gone. Only to be able to find them again here. I'm a game designer. I have a degree in it. I accomplished something I never thought I'd be able to. I came to this site to reconnect with my friends and talk about thief. I didn't see any other introduction thread so I thought I'd put one up.
I'll be posting here off and on. I'm a busy man with looking for work and trying to make ends meet if you will. I hope that my friends do realize this is the same guy that was so psycd about Thief 3 and so in detail about The Cradel mission. These guys didn't make fun of me, and only stated that I should play the first two games. Which I'm doing at the moment and will be until completion to put my thoughts on it as well.
Thanks for reading.

Hi Fizbop, it's good to see you again...:)
Back in January, there was a big blowout on the Eidos forums. Myself, and many other long-standing veterans decided to leave due to an inordinate amount of censorship and questionable behavior from those managing the forum. 'Tis a shame of course, because they lost a great amount of fine contribution and THIEF community support, as well.
I'm glad to see that you're playing the first two games...I'm sure you'll love them!...:thumb:
If you have questions or ever need any help, I'm sure that jtr7 or I would be more than happy to assist you.
