We could surmise that this force represents life and/or nature, in some ways a combination and interaction of the 4 elements, Light and Dark.

The Thieves' Reward is where grave robbers ended up after getting caught or fatally careless. It could be the name of one of the many traps. It could be what they call that chasm.
It could also be where those that the Hammerites have brought to the Builder's justice are disposed of. I'm betting they're not one for formal burial of heretical sinners.
