I was drinking single malt scotch whiskey when I wrote my reply. Forgive me, I have sinned.

Has this thread been sent to mock me?
I am stuck in Islamabad for 6 long weeks.
There are a couple o' fine 18 year olds waiting until I get back tae dear auld Glasgow toun - Glenlivet and Highland Park.
With scotch I think it is all good; the exploration of the taste is half the fun.
My favorite malt? It has to be 'malt of the month'! Particularly when found in grotty glasgow bar. The reward for daring to show your face can be a 35mm+ measure of whatever malt barman has closest to him... all for the cost of 3 pund.
Either that or the multiple malts available at a good whiskey tasting. There are so many different tastes and the chance to sample 30 year old malts. Of course you can walk away with your favorites from the show, if you have enough bawbees. I ken ye well Old Pulteney, 21 year old.
If you are looking for a whiskey that may have skipped under your radar you can't go wrong with Glengoyne; the distillery is on the route of the west highland way. The older malts are fantastic. In fact, I have bought into a barrel of Glengoyne. In 15 years time I will have about about 40 bottles of 21 years old to my name.

Out of interest, how much was it and did you buy a quarter of the barrel? (I'm assuming a standard barrel contains around 160 litres of whisky)
Although I enjoy whisky, my taste is for lighter malts - particularly the Speyside region but I do enjoy the Glenmorange (

Ironically, that's rife with erroneous comma usage. [smile] I wish whoever made it would issue a corrected version.

No it is about a sixth of the cask (250 liters) and it cost about 350GBP. I'll have to pay tax on the alcohol content when the whiskey is bottled too, (and there are other costs associated, samples to be sent, bottling costs etc). Still I think it will be well worth it.

I had a massive big post detailing my latest dalliances in the whisky world a couple of weeks back but internet gremlins ate it so FUCKYOUINTERNET. Now you get my short shrift post saying I had a (
