I've been thinking of my Thief videos and wondered how the walkthroughs would go if I did them with another taffer :cheeky:
My youtube name is TheDukeofMania. I find that the videos tend to be much better when there's two people yakkin' away and having a laugh at wins and failures. :joke:
These two guys have the right idea. X3.

The reason I made this thread is to bring "taffers with technology" together and see if anyone wants to do a playthrough in realtime with someone else. Things tend to be much more satisfying that way. :)

Go through here for ones already posted. There are Original Mission (OMs) and Fan Mission (FMs) video walkthroughs:

Gecko's contributions start on page two, for example, for YouTube usernames in the index that are different from TTLG usernames.
I've known a couple of people who started walkthrough vids and stopped after only a few missions for various reasons.

I thought about doing playthrus with people after multiplayer came out and I figured out fraps & skype. On my computer you still need to bump up the gamma post-production. But I don't really have time to do it now anymore unfortunately. Hope you find someone. I like to watch those kinds of videos. :)

Keeper Jonas (TTLG) and I are planning to do a playthrough together sometime in the future. He recently lost all his playthrough videos for some reason, so he has to upload all of them back. Once he finishes them, he says he's interested in starting a co-effort with me.
I'll pretty much be like Brother Murus during the recordings. :p I know a lot of engine-related tips and stuff like that.

I've considered doing one for awhile solo, but I wouldn't mind doing one with you Keyla.

What's your youtube name? Also, I use Skype to voice chat, so I recommend you use that too, if you haven't got a Skype account already. My sound card works with Skype so that you can hear the audio from my computer, not just my mic. :)

I've not done anything at all like a walkthrough before, but I have a couple videos under my belt. I have a couple youtube names, as it happens, and here's an example of a couple of projects I've done in the past:

(

I'm responsible for the fliming and editting of the following martial arts school video:

And this last one was a little walkthrough of a stage in Thievery, but not using voice.

I do have Skype, and if you're interested in working together I'd prefer to share that privately. I have some pretty robust video editting software to add to the project. My biggest barrier would probably be harddrive space. FRAPS files are huge, and Thief takes a long time. I'd hate to rush things just because of memory limits.
What are you proposing? You playing and recording and me commentating? Or the other way around?
Anyway, enjoy the above videos, and let me know what you think!

Don't do a playthrough unless:
- you're a master at the game
- you're playing it for the first time
Nobody gives a fuck about some dude just playing a videogame.

90% of the LP audience seems to disagree, Koki. LPs mostly depend on the one who plays, not even how he plays.
I myself find a blind playthrough the most entertaining, but I've seen many exceptions - if the LP'er is funny enough/informative enough/does an interesting approach in a game, it's fun to watch.
And being a master at the game - everybody loves screw-ups. It's one of the main reasons Khad's Thief LP was watched so much by ttlg.

I do video walkthroughs, but without commentaries as I usually don't like hearing someone talk over a game unless they are good at it and know the game. Khad's LP was unbearable after a while for that matter, but Bobbin Threadbare's was great and never got boring.
I mostly do TDP and TMA fan missions, I uploaded walkthoughs of Prowler of the Dark and Disorientation recently, you can watch them here if you want: (

Don't mind the other videos though, they are either poop or TF2 replays and I should separate my account for them. :p
I essentially showcase the missions and finish them on Expert mode. Sometimes I find all the secrets and loot, sometimes I don't.
So far I have done Expert walkthroughs of Disorientation, Prowler of the Dark, Heist Society, Mystic Gems (both missions), The Seven Shades of Mercury, Calendra's Cistern and Conspiracies in the Dark. I also did Unbidden Guest but the quality is terrible, so I may re-do it. I plan on doing Augustine's Revenge and Bad Debts in the near future too.
