Well, fellow taffers, I'm finally a proud owner of Thief. I picked up a used copy of EIDOS' Thief Platinum, so I still don't have Gold, yet. This means I can work on all kinds of projects, even if I still can't play it. I own DromEd 2, too!:thumb:
Now I just need a computer I can install them on.:(
Until then, I'll just dig through the game files for treasure, and keep an EYE OUT for Gold and Deadly Shadows. Someday, I hope to play them all, and the Fan-Made missions I keep hearing about, as well.;)
Oh, happy day!

So you have now got Thief Platinum and what? Thief II? I liked Deadly Shadows, it's worth a purchase

The Thief Platinum that got me started on Thief was merely a patched version of T1. However, that's not a bad thing as some FM authors rebuilt the Thief-Gold-only missions as FMs for T2. While the Thieves' Guild mission starts with a funny conversation and goes downhill from there (you are in a maze of twisty little passages...) the others were good.

Good for you JT, but how are you doing with the Mouser and Fafhrd series?

I still can't find that in any used bookstore in person. I guess I'll have to break down and order it.

Oh hey, theBlackman! I only need to read the "last two," and I'll have read all the major books. I am curious to know how his later attempts at sci-fi are. He said he couldn't write sci-fi until he figured something out (I can't recall what that something was), and then it was easy. I've read "Gather, Darkness!" and it does have quite a bit of sci-fi, though it still reads like fantasy.
The last two books were purchased first. I held off reading them until I had them all, which took--what--a couple years? During the waiting period, I apparently placed the last two books someplace safe. I don't know where they are! So... I'm not done with the first full read-through.
There is really good stuff in there. Even with seven books, which contain several smaller novels and short-stories, it feels like a sampler! I definitely want more! I know the early stories were originally published a bit at a time in magazines, but they seem so short by today's standards.
I've also read Jack Vance's Dying Earth series, as aardvark/zdim recommended. Fun, fun, fun....
Thanks, D--!
