If it were up to me, I'd pick Julian McMahon ( (http://imdb.com/name/nm0573037/)) best known for the TV show "Nip/Tuck". Someone suggested him in some other thread I was reading about fantasy Garrett castings. I think he is perfect for the part.

As a backup maybe we could go with Chirstian Bale.

The funny thing is; Statham, Bale et al would be great as 47 too. At least, they are the ones I'd want to act 47.

I also think Leanardo DeCaprio (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000138/)

would be a good bet. I wouldnt want to see someone to mocho like Brad Pitt or some of the other guys more suited for a James Bond type role. After all a thief needs smaller therefore light on his or her feet, nimble...quiet and able to fit into small places.
