OK, i'm 2 years late buying them (GTA IV and EFLC - Episodes From Liberty City) What happened ?
GTA 4 v1.0.0.0 is appallingly optimized ! Patched to v1.0.7.0 it is still pretty awful.
EFLC fully patched is atrocious ! All of them running on 'Auto Configure' settings.
Even with everything turned to lowest settings it has ein shizer frame rate.
My PC is standard for the course today, it should eat GTA4 for dinner - quad 4, 4gb RAM, 1gb Radeon card.
What happened ? Didn't Rock* get to complete the development cycle ?

Yeah seems they just aren't.
And amount of ram on a gfx card means nothing. Would a Voodoo card with 16gb be any good these days?

Not sure what you expect from a thread that starts with a rhetorical question other than frothing and wild speculation, but it works great on my machine of circa 2007 spec.

gta4 is lousy on pc, poorly optimized, full of bugs, has input-delay. the studio responsible is known for bad pc ports. and yes, it is a game that should run flawlessly on today's hardware, just like any other console-port.

Welcome to the modern world of mainstream PC gaming. Titles have latently exaggerated system requirements, probably to push gamers to the trap that is consoles. If you think this is bad, just look at Halo 2's requirements. I don't have to remind you that Halo 2 was originally an *XBox 1* game. Now it requires: (

Judge Dredd from 2003 plays poorly on my Phenom 9950 with 6Gb of RAM and rendered with a 9800GT graphics card, so I guess it's nothing new.
(Cue large amounts of laughter at me owning the Judge Dredd game...)

you're being very unspecific there considering there's a wide range of 1gb radeon cards.
