Don't forget about that obscure Clan No Bow Upgrade AKA Clan n00b, as GBM nicknamed it (I hope my memory serves me well). ;)

While I play, I am Garrett. He is my alter-ego, and his part in the plot is the part I am playing, at all times. It isn't for me to question Garrett's motives; it is enough to know that he has them, and to act upon them in his stead.
If a fan mission uses a different player character, then I am that character. I don't try to superimpose a persona of my own making onto the game.

Those threads sure bring back memories...*sigh*
I guess everyone's kinda moved on..but...we can't give up just yet! I mean- I just got my butt whacked by a damn Hammerite in their blasted cathedral!
I mean-
(*falls into a stammering stupor after having played Thief III for 4 hours after work*)

Great to hear you're hanging in there with T3, Little T! Now, take a cold shower, have something to eat, then go back in there & waste that Hammerite! :thumb:

Am I the only one who read the starting post as an invitation to talk about their alter ego, not why they play thief?
See, that's why I cleverly constructed an answer that could be interpreted as either my alter ego or why I play Thief.
But if you really want, I suppose I could make up an alter ego and write something more elaborate!

Walking through the nearly deserted streets at night. Feeling the weight of years evident in the old, but stately homes and mansions lining the street as I dart from one darkened corner to the next. They've doubled the watch here in the past week, or so I've heard. Halting and quickly hiding in the shadows when I hear footsteps approach, waiting to see if it's friend or foe, then striking in near silence. He'll wake up with a sore head for sure, that one will. But he won't be alerting his fellows in arms; not this night.
Looking up at windows softly lit as I glide through the night and wonder who lives there - there, in that small mansion; is it a home filled with unimaginable wealth? Or will I find only a few worthless, gaudy baubles, displayed in the pretense of wealth? Is it worth sneaking round to the back, where all is dark and silent, and finding entry? Anticipation builds, breath catches as I glimpse a golden vase, reflecting the light of the street lamp through the front window. The grass crunches beneath my boots as I slither around the corner to the back yard, but no one is awake to hear. Slipping through a basement window, boots echoing as I land on the stone floor. Gliding up stairs into the kitchen, red embers still glowing in the hearth. Hmmm; this family eats well. (May as well stock up on a few snacks for later while I'm passing through.)
Making my way silently through the house and grabbing all the glittering pretties; rich tapestries and carpets muffling any errant sound I make. Emptying the master's 'secret' safe, my lockpicks sounding so loud in the silence of the darkened house. A pause - to make sure all in this house still slumber. Then up to the attic and out onto the ledge just outside the window. I shoot a rope arrow into an exposed beam projecting from the building next door, swing across and land, quiet as a cat, on another window sill. Fools should think to lock all their windows at night when there's a thief lurking in their wealthy neighborhood!
There's no moon tonight. A night for thieves.
(Sorry; got a little carried away.)

The Thief 3 zombies were pathetic compared to the original. Okay, they were faster, but that didn't have that 'feel' that I get when going through cragscleft or THC or any of the original zombie missions.
LittleTaffer on 17/2/2006 at 01:30
You just had to mention zombies, didn't you?! :wot:
Comrade Dia, you'd think now that we've looted most of the city, we'd have enough wealth to be among the rich, aye? But who was to attend endless parties when we can sneak from party to party....
Eh, said like a true Foofie :joke:
Dia on 17/2/2006 at 01:38
You'll note I deliberately left out the mention of zombies - let them stay in the stinking sewers and rotting ruins where they belong! And let those with a stronger heart than mine go hunting for those accursed, maggot infested creatures.
Wealthy or not, friend Little T; our place is here in the heart of the city. At night.
Except not tonight because it's sleeting and starting to turn to snow here and I get cold easily. :cheeky:
