Hmmm.....I seem to recall that I recieved it as a gift from my dad for Christmas. he used to have a whole bunch of computer games he'd recieved free at work, and Thief: The Dark Project was one of them. Been hooked on the game ever since.

Back in the early/mid 80's I became a rabid fan of the crpg movement. Along the way, I was turned on to Blue Sky/Looking Glass after reading in magazines about their affiliation with Richard Garriot. I followed their games, whilst staying true to the evolving crpg's. When Thief came out, I mistakenly looked away in favour of Might and Magic VI. A half a year later my little brother convinced me to play it for real. Obviously, I was blown away. The similarities to old crpg's and the realised environments we had dreamed about drew me right in. I've been a Taffer ever since.
aah, another lover of Ultima, i take it. i got into thievery by way of a Eidos demo disc i got in a computer gaming magazine, i installed the Thief 2 demo, played it, and immediately fell in love w/ it. i still havent been able to play the 1st 2 (T:DP and Gold), but i should be able to get it via BitTorrent soon, as im getting the net back. also, its because i love the challenge of lurking in the shadows for the right moment to blackjack an unsuspecting guard and drag his uncoucious body to a ledge and throw him off a tall building. and also stealing stuff right off people's person and wandering off like nothing ever happened. ive been doing crap like that in r/l lately, not stealing, as that's illegal, and jail doesnt sound very pleasant, but like running around in the shadows and seeing if i get noticed/seen, then toying w/ people that pass by. :sly: thief has kept me entertained for 4-5 years running now, and i dont think itll stop any time soon, and pray theyll continue to make Thief games well after T3. :)
