I found my way here looking for tips on Thief missions, and found an awesome repository of FMs and a thriving community.
The community isn't so thriving anymore, but the people who remain are dedicated, and regularly put out top-notch fan missions for one of my favorite games.
Trivia: If you google "fan missions," Thiefmissons.com comes up near the top because in every other game, they're called mods.

For the intelligence, the humour and the nostalgia.
And to clean up after the Duck :eww:

TTLG isn't the first forum I posted on but for one reason or another it's become my home on the internet. When the server acts up and shuts down access I feel like a lost puppy who's been left outside. Alone. In the rain.

What Dia said. I sincerely and truly love and appreciate you all. Except for Koyla and Koki.

I come hear for the lernin. And I don't like change.
I been here since the place opened. There was less than 100 people when I started lurking in Thief Gen. I didnt register for over a year. I can still remember that 1st piece of shit compaq. Got it from my late wifes uncle. She gave it to me as a 4 year anniversary present.
I've always thought there were some of the smartest motherfuckers on the planet here. Some of the dumbest assholes also. I dont have a handful of friends in my life, and none to speak of on here, but it's nice to come and see whats happening with some people i've gotten to know a little bit about over the last 12+ years.

Because this will always be my favorite place to lurk. There's always something interesting going on in comm chat and there's always somebody posting about thief when I'm longing for the old days. Once in a while I go back and read some of the threads from over a decade ago and it brings back memories just like looking through an old family album.

Thanks for all the responses! I find them strangely heartwarming.
My own answer is a bundle of the ones already said: there's often intelligent discussion, and it's sort of a habit. There are times when I want a more active forum, but I can never be hassled; other forums I see are either too narrowly focused (RPS) or are, well, like TTLG - they have a long-established cast of characters and I frankly can't be bothered to learn the names of a 100 new posters. So for now, here I stay. And a few posters aside, it's pretty fantastic.
