Just wondering. I do like them because I think they are scarier than human enemies (especially craymen/beasts cause of the wierd cliking noises)

Some people don't enjoy being scared. Some people have strong, uncontrollable psychological reactions to certain things. Or, they think the monsters in the games are annoying.

There are plenty that do. I'd say most do. Some people just have more trouble than others keeping those images out of their nightmares, or from feeling it's too real for comfort. They can't help it, and rationale's not the problem.

I used to prefer human and monsters, but now I prefer the undead, because their so fun to play around. Especially zombies. You can walk into a room and it's like you adopt a car-fill of puppies! They follow you everywhere and it's up to you to feed them, (lure them to people) clean them (lead them through water) and finally release them into the wild (abandon them in the middle of a populated area for hilarious fun!)
A great way to get over your fear of zombies is to get on top of a table or something, then just stare at it and get used to it. Thats what I did.

I guess it's because some people find the undead if Thief to real for comfort. The first two games are in first person, which makes it a lot more scarier, combined with all those funky strange moans and sounds the dead make.
Took me a while to complete Down In The Bonehoard at first, the zombies would always make me jump a mile.

Aeons ago, when Thief was still new, I borrowed it to a buddy of mine. After two days he gave it away - as soon as he saw the undead he pretty much uninstalled the game. Here's the thing, he wasn't even scared, he just didn't like a concept of a game with them in it. He could play a Thief stealing from humans, but raiding tombs was just lame.
So uh... here you go?

Why I don't really like monsters? Because they're everywhere. Try to survive one day in the "civilised" world without being confronted with some kind of supernatural creatures. Monsters are everywhere, people with character are not.

Not every FM, for example has monsters in them. Variety is the spice of life, as they say. Some like monsters, some do not. To each his/her own.
After awhile, what kind of game would we have without monsters, BORING, to me. Hard to imagine thief without monsters, too late, they're already there. I'll take them all.
Most fun I had lately with monsters, was an FM called, "Chain Project" I had tree ents, fighting hammerhaunts, fighting mech beasts, all fighting each other, some winning some loosing, I was running around on an endless speed potion, oh god it was fun. Never had that experience with them before, egg them on, it was great.
If thief was a more human experience, lets just play Splinter Cell. :P
