You said it best B'Arts; 'To each his/her own.'
I think the basic reason I don't like monsters is because I just find them repulsive. If something's repulsive to me, I can pretty much guarantee I won't be deriving any fun from it. If it's not fun, then why waste my time? There you have it.
Okay; except for haunts; I'll admit to being a scaredy-cat-chicken when it comes to haunts. Even though for some odd reason if given a choice between playing an FM with zombies & monsters or one with haunts, I'd probably play the FM with the haunts. If I had no other choice and was being forced at gunpoint, that is. :p

You know, this thread is real close to (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115992) Oh god another undead thread. I mean come on, if people would stop and think for a minute, not everyone will like or enjoy the undead missions, that's the fact jack. We have so much variety, what difference does it make? You play yours, I'll play mine.
But, it is the variety that keeps us here, and gives us something to talk about in the end, to me, that is what matters. Never a dull moment around here, fo sho.

Adding to the mix of preferences--to each his/her own--are those who like to keep things human, Earth-like, and less fantastic.

What mission that you made has monsters gort?
Well, here is a shot from my upcoming FM "Unknown Treasure". The full version of this has two missions (I hope...).
This is a fire creature that drops fire where ever it walks.

I enjoy being scared, but when i want that I'll play Resident Evil -or System Shock. I enjoy Thief most when I'm stealing from people. There's a naughtiness to it that I don't find in other stealth-based games, mainly because they tend to be about stealthy murder.
The undead missions are all very atmospheric and I enjoy playing them, but they're not my favourite missions in the games.

Just wondering.
I will always love the creatures from Dark Project. By the time Thief came out, rpg people (and most other genres) had been exposed to very little 3d gaming. Just seeing 3d for the first time made the creatures memorable, but it was the environments, atmosphere, and story that sealed the deal. It was like being sucked into an Ultima but instead of having to imagine certain aspects of the game, they were paraded across the screen in spectacular fashion.

... P.S. Gort, if it drops fire wherever it walks, wouldn't that cause a massive framerate drop? Or do they disappear after a while?
Nah. I'd made sure that it won't happen. The fire for that creature gets destroyed after about 2 to 3 seconds.

Provided that they're implemented properly, I enjoy all types of enemies, human, monster, and undead alike.
I'm not very fond of traps though. :nono:
