Well when I played DX for the first time I played it on Hard (or the one down from the highest difficulty setting) and with no patches as it was just released. And I remember a couple of the NPC's at UNATCO saying that the most lethal take down is a headshot "Always Remember That".
NSA terrorists, most of them took 2 shots to the head why is this? They flinched on the first headshot then went down on the second one. I can understand this happening on UNATCO troops as they have a helmet but i have shot them straight in the face with a well placed sniper rifle shot and they havent gone down.
Oh yeah I have the European Version of the game if that makes a difference.

That shouldn't happen.
What level is your rifle skill at this point? I suspect that your headshot might not be as well placed as you think.
"NSA terrorists." I like that.

Also, did you scope your shot? Apparently scoped sniper rifle shots cause more damage than unscoped ones (i.e. when you don't zoom in with your scope). It's probably just that your rifle skill is crap at that point in the game and you haven't upgraded your rifle at all (or at least not much) at that point.

A sniper rifle shot to the head should take down any normal troop. Instead of the general area of the head, hit them in the back of the neck or face...this always works for me.

I found that with rifle skills at trained, I did better when not using the scope. Probably just me.

I usually aim for the spinal stem, right where the neck hits the body. Works perfectly.

I get this too, occurence seems based only a bit on your skill with the weapon. I would run into specific guys who would take two headshots (with any weapon I tried) while their identical buddy next to them took one. I've heard that its because the locational damage sytem is really finicky. Anyone tried this with the targetting system?

I have never used sniper rifle after my pistol get a laser aiming mod. I have tried with skill of advanced but my hands shake so much that I can't hold still long enough. My laser aiming pistol is more reliable, one shot one kill.

In response to Bogeyman. My headshots were well placed I could see the bullet make contact with their heads by the graphical register. (i.e. The spark that u see when u hit troops in the head). My Rifle skill at that time was advanced I upgraded my skill cause I was so annoyed at the damn thing shaking and eventually got it to master and it would still happen. (Taking 2 headshots to kill some people).
I have only played the game once (Shame on me) but maybe the patches have fixed it up now.

Even on untrained, my zoomed sniper shots usually took regular troops down in one shot anywhere on head.
