Can we start matching the different games up against lions or kitchenware or something? Something new might actually get said that way.
T1 vs. Grizzly Bear: Has better control than a grizzly bear, but the bear is more convincing. While T1 has its share of genuinely scary moments, they can't really compare to being mauled. T1 falls behind in the technical side as well since the bear features real-time fur. While being attacked by a grizzly bear is likely to be a much more memorable experience than playing T1, you are less likely to lose a limb while playing T1.
T2 vs. a book about anatomy: The anatomy book is undoubtedly the more educational of the two, but T2 has a superior story. The book also provides little in the way of satisfying stealth gameplay. The book is portable, so it's probably the better option if you travel a lot.
T3 vs. five trees: The trees have healthier-looking foliage, and provide plenty of shade on hot summer days. T3 outdoes trees in the areas of story and characterization, but the trees help to process carbon dioxide back into breathable air. Despite some disappointment over the way T3 controls, most would agree that it is easier to move in the game than it is to move a large tree.

I defend a point indefinetly, while I'm sure people are not understanding what I'm saying. If you guys take it as me getting "angry" or something, that's not my problem. There's no tone of voice on the net, and I refuse to guild my posts with smileys just to prevent this.
Of course there is a tone, also in written language. Just because you refuse to acknowledge that, doesn't make you a hero, actually it's quite on the contrary.

Spar Spar Spar, you obviously didn't go back and read this, and Goldmoon, you seemed to have missed it entirely, so here it is one more time for everybody's benifit;
LOL! Everybody is wrong and you are right. :)

Everything has its flaws, you learn from the past and better it. That's what we're doing with TDM.
..so you're not one to presume then?

And if people disagree with you, then clearly they're just not understanding you, since you couldn't possibly be wrong. Got it.

If somebody doesn't understand what you say, you might consider to phrase it in a way that people can actually understand it. :)

Thief: Deadly Shadows is supposedly a great game, but I fail to see this.
DS is way to linear, after playing the first misssion. I quickly hungered for the ability to be able to go MY ways, not have to go through tight-corridors where I must go. In addition, the movement of Garett is just to lackluster and montomous. The running speed of Garett is equivalent to the walking speed of Garett in T1 and T2. I was highly disappointed how Ion Storm did not manage to follow the footsteps of Through The Looking Glass's design elements. When I play T2 and T1, there is a lot of atmotsphere, I am able to go where I am, and overall it somewhat immerses you into the game as actually being a part of the mission, but this is the completely opposite for DS. When I play DS, I feel as though I am controlling Garett, not myself. The immersion factor is much lower. I also missed the great random things the guards would say. Most of the guards just walk, and appear as do not have much life in them. It is if they are drones.
This is why I favor T1 and T2 over DS. I think Thief: Deadly Shadows was a failure.
Nah DS was far better, it's was much less linear, has better (more fun and less tedious) missions, far better level design and some really cool and varied level themes, AI is sometimes really fun (perhaps not extremely smart, but FUN) Superb atmosphere all the way trough. DS is one of the most underrated games ever imo (it did recieve fairly good reviews, but it deserved even better!), it's at least a 9/10 imo (i'd rate the old thief games 8/10).
You say you cant play it your way? DS has much more open level design, and in Thief1-2 you are much more restricted to a certain playing style, you are even forbidden to kill people in some missions! In DS you can be a mass murderer if you choose to.
DS is a much more RPG-like experience and feels more open ended which is why i prefer it over the old thief games. It's still very linear in comparison to GTA or TES, but still, better than the old thief games.

and Goldmoon,
I didn't miss it, in fact I quoted it.
I quoted it then because as now, I can't find the relation between conjuring up a tactic that only "Experts" can do at which point the "tactic" no longer becomes a viable means of completing any said Mission, and why The Dark Project is clearly the better of these three games. Just tell all the experts who already know that this is a glitch and to avoid it. I seem to recall Thief 3 not even living up to Difficulty Levels, let alone a wonderful set of built-in "glitches/extras".
I would assume that we are looking then for glitches that affect new players. The flash bomb thing doesn't apply because of LGS' brilliant concept of Thievery (only experts can act this way in combat). However; a new player may find himself frustrated that as a new player to the series on X-box, he found himself to be elite. The Difficulty Settings cause far more damage to this poor child than mastering The Dark Project!

Sadly, this may be true. Yet, even then when compared to TDP the glory pales greatly.

This speaks for itself, as does the next part. The game, for whatever reason$, was tagged with Thief. Why didn't they just make it a damn RPG-lite and follow through with it!

vurt what the hell are you smoking and how much does it cost?
i like TDS at least as much as i like thief 2. (thief gold takes the cake.) but open level design? what the hell.
