Three stages of RAGE:
- Rage
- Amusement
- Contempt
I'm out of Rage already, sorry!

On the specific case of Tribes Ascend: what would be the reason for journalists to give it too high a score? (Let's ignore the whole discussion of whether scores make sense or not, since that's separate from this game.) If we're talking about something like Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 or GTA IV, I can see several reasons why they'd be scored too high - but few (if any) of those would apply to this game. Microsoft isn't a particularly well-liked publisher, the developers aren't a big name, the Tribes IP isn't all that well known at this point. There's little incentive to give the game this high a score, other than them thinking it's great fun to play it.

Try reading the thread maybe? It's not about fun, it's about how good of a
game it is. And just about everything in T:A is broken, wrong, or contradicts itself.
Enough to say that T:A proscene will play in 7v7 as opposed to 16v16, with naked spawns, altered vehicle prices, no call-ins and cerain weapons banned. That on its own is a proof there's something seriously wrong with it.

I, like several others, disagree with you on the question of fun. To me, "It's not about fun, it's about how good of a game it is" is a naive if not delusional statement, at least with games that primarily *want* to be fun.

Disagree all you want, but since fun is subjective reviews that rate fun of something are pointless and meaningless. There are people out there who don't like the game, what are they supposed to make out of a 10/10?

This basically boils down to "I, koki, king of opinions, disagree with a particular game review".
(while also apparently playing the living shit out of the game in question, which I will nevertheless constantly decry as hopelessly broken)

As I said earlier, I'm not a fan of scores - not so much for this reason but because they suggest a precision that is meaningless. But the point that you make would always be there in a review, to some extent, unless you believe that a meaningful review of a game will just be a list of factual statements on a game's features, at which point it is no longer a *review* but a laundry list. Opinion will have to come into it at some point - a good review will give you an idea whether you're likely to share those opinions or not (which a score, isolated from the actual review, will never be able to do).

It's fucking irrelevant if you wrote "10/10" or "Great game, very fun to play" to someone who didn't find the game very fun to play. Score or not you're still rating the game based on that purely subjective opinions of yours instead of facts.

In your version of it, maybe. In mine, not so much.

Can you link to a review that only deals in facts and that you would consider good?
