Okay this will be the last post before I take a break from this forum.
I don't know what it is about the internet that makes people so evil towards other human beings. People say some of the most vile, hateful garbage in internet chats and forums- things they wouldn't even dream of saying to anyone in real life. It's kind of like how completely sane and mellow people get extreme road rage in the car.
I really don't understand how people can act this way. Is it the fact that we're sitting in front of computers that dehumanizes the situation?

Anonymity.

What I should have said: Anonymity, asshole.
Cause that would've been funny.

Because we can. I climbed Mt. Everest once just so I could tell people I'd frotted the world's largest dildo.

Grow some thick skin, asshat.
It's Internet. If you don't know the ground rules by now, you probably deserve the suffering you ... um ... suffer.

It really just means you're on the wrong chats & forums to begin with.

Please, the type of people on the internet I'm talking about are far from being anything worth getting all hysterical over. I completely understand why the internet is this way (Been on the internet for many years, lots of experience). It's more of a psychological question. I'm not baffled at all by the things that come out on peoples computer screens. I'm just wondering what makes them seem to act how they act when on the internet? They say things most people in reality would never dare to say to anybody else.[h=1]<h1 class="redword">

Offence is taken, not given. To be upset by another person's comments you either have to ascribe inherent value to what that person is saying or recognise some truth in it. If a person is nasty, that's their problem, not yours. Ignore it and move on.

It's not that people are assholes on the internet. It's that people are assholes. Full stop. But you can't get stoned to death through a monitor.

I'm guessing people have a kind of natural shark mentality, and Internet just allows it to take root and blossom. If somebody comes around that's easily trollable and makes a deal out of it, or allows themselves to be dragged down into it, it's like blood in the water, and it just leads the sharks to swarm the person even more, take their bites, and pull the person under. There's no cost to it, and it's probably irresistible to somebody that can't hold their own emotions in check either. Maybe the trolls and the trolled deserve each other.
I don't know. I come to Internet for the chillstep tracks, indie games, and articles on quantum physics, cosmology, and consciousness, the kinds of places trolls and the trolled probably wouldn't even think to go.

Much of human social language occurs by reading facial expressions and body language. Remove that and I think you lose a lot of the buffer which exists between people with differing ideas.
