I'm sorry Brethren but I just had to let that out. I know it's not very mature to swear but it's just making me very upset that people would have to bring that up when I specifically said not to because I didn't want anymore drama. But that's alright because I'm taking a break from these forums. Sure Slyfoxx is more than a voice but when I'm angry I don't think straight :p

I also find it interesting that the standard for closing/locking a thread on this forum is very different than the FM forum. The deleted thread has only mild comments and the thread got closed due to "personal" comments against a member. Considering the things I have been called here and what I have said in turn, much of this forum should be banned :cheeky:

When someone that is well respected like Slyfoxx calls you out on your bullshit, you are in fact spewing bullshit. My opinion.
When you state that you are going to go it alone, will create new things that are better than ever before, and do not care what anyone thinks, that rubs most everyone else the wrong way. That is especially true when you do not deliver on your promises. It is sort of like walking into a Catholic church during mass, loudly proclaiming you know more about God than the priest, and then delivering a sermon from the Book of Mormon. It is seen as offensive to those present. :joke:
TTLG is a pretty tight nit group and many people here worked on the original games. People like me are just observers and admirers of their work. New FM creators need to understand that they are attempting to join a long standing group of cooperative FM creators. You cannot just blow into town and claim victory. You may not think your comment are arrogant, but many do.
Most of the FM authors work together on projects, not just go it alone. Even the ones that create FMs alone use resources from others. There are many beta testers that FM creators rely upon. For you to discount this and tell everyone that you don't care what others do, think, and say is simply arrogant.
Actually, your very first post in that deleted thread was not perceived by me to be arrogant. I did not read between the lines, nor did I take into account your previous posts. Frankly, I cannot remember ever playing one of your FMs (are there any?) and I have played almost all T2 FMs. Maybe yours are T1.
For me, FM creators deliver when they can. I have been waiting many years for some. You seem to think that if you are 6 months late you have broken a promise to deliver. I find that extremely ambitious, but not arrogant. However, as the posts went on, you demonstrated characteristics of arrogance. That changed my opinion.
My unsolicited advice is to let this all drop and go back to working on FMs. Deliver at least one great FM that lives up to your hype and move on. Best of luck. :D
Yes my FM'S are for T1. Also thanks for the advice. I'm not letting it go any further because I want no more drama.

I have to check if I have played at least 1 of your FMs in TG then. I may have a while back and even commented. Also, and you have probably been given this advice before, but consider building some FMs in T2 also. You'll have many more players. Since the engine is exactly the same now and you can use T1 "items" in T2, there isn't much of a reason to build in T1 (at least that seems like what many FM creator say). There are many that will complete disagree with me on that one. However, when I played TG late last year for the first time, I felt like I had already played most of it before. That is because many T2 FMs have used TG maps. I am also not a fan of T1/TG keys (I know I can remap my keyboard, but I am lazy).
Another bit of unsolicited advice… when someone writes something you do not like, you do not always have to respond. Sometimes this post itself speaks enough of the poster to allow people to come to the conclusion you want to convey. If you respond, it will deflect back to you and you may look like the fool instead of the reverse. The trick is to keep your head, and if you are over 21 (18 in Canada?) not to be drunk. Mad and/or drunk posts usually result in, "Damn I wish I could delete that…"

SneakyGuy's thread was deleted at his own request. As I said earlier, just because someone asks for a thread to be deleted doesn't mean it will be. On this occasion, it was agreed that it could be. The FM forum is supposed to be a place where people feel comfortable and safe enough to ask questions about fan missions knowing that they won't get berated for a daft question or one that's been asked 100 times before. That's it. I think everyone knows that CommChat is far more 'energetic'. :)

True.
If he thinks that's mean, he would have LOVED what happens when you say anything about race relations near dethtoll.

Slyfoxx, that asshole was blatantly saying I can't dromed! I can't dromed!? ...
For the record, I never said that. You might make great missions for all I know.
So if you want to stomp your feet and quote me, at least get it right.

If this is really all about making an FM, then I'm a great believer in just cooping up and building, ask what you need to ask. But IMO you don't actually need approval to make the FM you want. Respect advice but it's not the law either.
Some people roll their eyes or show disapproval when people take on big projects, or think something is a bad idea.
I got it when I said I was going to re-do Darkmod's ambient system because the old way was dumb, but I was told it was a fool's task, why fix what isn't broke, etc, & I got (what felt like to me) inexplicable resistence. I did it anyway, and now my system is the standard system. Sometimes a little quiet middle finger flexing to the naysayers is good motivation, your work being the finger. (Looking back they were just being honest about the difficulty, and I was just reading it as hostile. But it still motivated me.)
Key word 'quiet'. My point is, don't get dramatic about resistence. People say what they think. It's an almost universal first reaction I've seen over the last 15 years. Just do what you want to do, whatever anyone says. (Well within reason. Some advice really is always right, like don't release without betatesting.) Prove yourself with your work. You know your own commitment & love to the community. So do your thing for it if it makes you happy.
I didn't read the thread at issue, so I don't know if any of this is on point. But FM making shouldn't generate so much drama. It's a game. You can make what you want with it. IMO don't take it so personally and just get back to building & do what you want.

Hear, hear!
I'd go even further and add that if you don't absolutely
need to ask something to get started with your project, then just shut up and build. We hear so often of people declaring that they're gonna make an awesome thing and then never follow through on it that a natural cynicism about those sorts of proclamations creeps into the hearts of every internet-dweller over time. Until you've got something to show for it, just shut about about the awesome thing you're gonna make, BRETHREN :grr:
prove me wrong, buddy. :joke:

While taking this course, we had a discussion about someone's ring. And this ring had the power to let you do one thing without any consequence at all. I think we have this ring in some instances with the internet. Wait, I said what?
