Look. Realistically:

One advantage we have is that we tend to be very good critical thinkers, but the disadvantage that typically comes with that is being extremely poor at coming up with solutions to those problems.
Ignore hating, pick out any constructive criticism, and keep doing what you need to do.

The phrase 'haters gonna hate' really gets on my nerves. Most people use it to just dismiss the another opinion without even considering its worth. It's childish.

You've gotten on my case before about this...and I was HOPING that you'd be smart enough to remember the previous conversation.
Also nice try attempting to make yourself look smart. Everybody else here already knows what's in that link, and everyone but you was smart enough to understand that(
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=left+brained+syndrome) I'm referring to the slang term and not making a scientific judgement.
If you've got a better colloquialism to use for the type of person I'm talking about I would LOVE to hear it.

Hence why it's important to be able to distinguish between criticism that is motivated by an attempt to be helpful from criticism that is motivated by people who are rejecting something because they dislike it or it challenges their pre-conceived notions.

Incredibly, this 'slang term' in the very link posted is so popular and well-known that it has 4 upvotes and 5 downvotes, making for a grand total of -1. Meanwhile, 'cock-juggling thunder cunt' has 810 upvotes and 93 downvotes, which explains why some men tend to PMS so hard that your carpeting ends up looking like a Jackson Pollock painting if it was made from freshly used tampons.

Tony doesn't actually seem to grasp that "haters gonna hate" has a specific, somewhat narrow application. He just trots it out whenever he feels like posting a reaction pic.
As for SneakyGuy, looks like he's continuing to provide textbook definitions of "unselfaware" and "prima donna".

I fully grasp it, but you seem to think I'm trying to misapply it to constructive criticism. I'm specifically not including helpful negative feedback as I stated earlier.
Which is entirely relevant to what Sneaky Guy needs to hear. Without having read the thread in question before it was too late I'm suggesting that there is a certain type of personality which has a dozen complaints and no solutions at any given time of day. He needs to grow a thicker skin, learn to say "fuck em" and move on when he encounters people like that.

I'm now going to have to use that phrase at the next relevant opportunity.

You just answered your own question as to why people on the Internet are so mean--a lot of times it's just perception.
