Why not wake-up guards when they have been knocked out ?I wonder...
You know when you are supposed to get out Ramirez's mansion, well, going out the front door is weird, and I didn't even get the alarm set off, 'cause you see, those guards in black, the two that assassinate Farkus at the beginning, well, I knock them out cold, and then I walk out, everything is fine, but I find the same guard (s) in the left courtyard and right one, with both the guard in black with the sword, he is also in the front yard too.
So
why not make the guards wake-up after a while when you knock 'em out the old fashioned way with the good old black-jack?It would be better than if they disappeared or making new ones appear...:tsktsk::nono:
Make them wake up !Quote Posted by AntiMatter_16
It is possible to have guards
regain consciousness? I don't know of any FMs that do it...
In Running Interference, one of the guards changes position from lying on the ground, to standing upright after a while, but remains knocked out, motionless, and with his legs through the floor. I wonder if this was an experiment with AIs
regaining consciousness that was forgotten?
Still don't get it, Meisterdieb?:sly:

Go play ThieveryUT then. You'll get your wish.

Playing Thievery, you do get a taste of that, and I've had some *oh shit* moments. Fun.

You're talking about Thievery?
:)
What isn't realistic? Waking up shortly after being blackjacked and acting like it never happened.

Just pondering gameplay vs real life:
Does anyone know what physically(medically) happens to a person that gets hit in the "right spot" with a blackjack? Would it even be possible to wake them up?

Yea, I got it that he was talking about knockouts and regaining consciousness afterwards. What I didn't get was the paragraph I quoted.

I didn't want to be blunt, that's why I asked my question the way I did, but the qoted part just doesn't make sense.
When he talks about the same guards, does he actually mean the same guards are up and about? 'Cause that's what the quote is saying.
Or is he trying to say what he
would like to see happening (and just doesn't phrase it correctly - cause what he's writing is something else)?
BTT:
It's interesting if you think how blackjacking(knocking someboy out works in movies and books, but isn't something that (apparently - according to Wiki) would be as simple or harmless as depicted.
OffT:
Kinda like seeing people on TV using a defibrillator all the time has people believe that when in RL you would only use it for certain heart condition and not every condition
BTT: Having AI wake up after a KO would be a nice touch, maybe only if they get woken up by some other AI. But since even those AI wouldn't stay on high alert it's just as silly as it is now with AI forgetting seeing you just a minute ago. So, it might add a new layer to the game but not that much.

of course, if you use a Wiki all the time then you are gonna be in alot of trouble in your life but at lest you admit that source ^_^
I don't understand that idea of other AI being able to wake them up.. If you are knocked out cold with a blunt hit to the head, you can shake and shout all you like, it's not gonna do any good for some time. Besides, i think this is starting to come down to a 'if you don't like it, why play it' kind of thing huh?

You asked ME what wasn't realistic, Meisterdieb. I responded to that.

If you beat unconscious guards with your blackjack in Thief 1 they proceed to trash talk you. Of course, I would never do such a thing.

Yes, I asked you - but that bit is long cleared up now and only concerned some misinterpretations I had on your post and the couple that went before yours.
My main point, though, was and still is that the paragraph I'm quoting doesn't make sense and I still don't know what exactly he is trying to say.
We all inferred that it boils down to unconscious people waking up again or something, but ... just read the quote again.
And to Shadowriku:
I'm really trying not to appear to bash you. I just don't understand what you tried to say.

It's off-topic, but Wikipedia isn't as bad as it's made out to be. You usually can rely on it.

1) There's also gas arrows and gas grenades. Likely you could be woken up simply by dousing with cold water.
2) Assuming you don't kill the guy with the blackjack. I don't know how long you'd be out after getting knocked out, but since you sometimes spent several hours in a mission, I'd guess that waking up again or being woken isn't that big an issue.

Not really. The questions still are "Is it possible with the engine?" and "Why isn't it used?"
