Did anyone sees the very impressive work they did with some (short) episodes for Assassin Creed ?
Could we expect something similar for Thief when Thief4 will be launched ?

Let FM-makers make "episodes".

Sterlino, do you mean the short film?
van HellSing on 15/12/2009 at 00:08
Have you seen the AC2 shorts, jtr? They've got actors set against backgrounds taken from the game, it's quite impressively done.

Oh yes. I watched them.
I want to see how EM interpret Garrett (if it's Garrett) and that universe in the game, first. It would be so easy to make him a mere archetype in a Xena/Hercules world. It would take much talent to pull off a nice adaptation, and until I see what EM and Squee are doing with it all for the game alone, I cannot say I want all this extra stuff. Cool is often exclusive from correct and wise. Some dreams really should not be made concrete. Traditional Thief cutscenes, extended, would be nice for such episodes. Once again, I have zero reason to believe the possibility of quality movies is high enough to spend any money on--and visuals would be the priority for them, when it's the least important aspect to nail.
It's far too easy to vote yes on my own imagined concepts for such episodes, but I do not ever fool myself that my imagination will be captured and played back--which is what most "yes" voters don't realize they are actually desiring when they imagine this concept for themselves.

Serial is a bad term in internet :ebil: At the first I thought it was an hacking thread... LOL
Anyway, much better "series", or "sequel".

It should also be obvious that making little Thief or Thief-related movies will change the game further. The next game(s) need(s) to relocate Thief's heart and soul first, and let that inform everything else. More stuff is not better. Looking for what is cool is not the correct perspective to have for the development of a game such as this. As I say, let the fans make what they want to see, but let Thief be unlike anything else, but Thief.
Assassin's Creed II had a HUGE budget and all these related projects were made by, what, over a thousand people? The development team for the game alone reached 450 persons. That's not including the movies and the other departments. Massive differences in resources, employee numbers, number of companies involved, and so on. There's no comparing any Thief game with what these other companies are doing. I'll say it again, Thief should not be homogenized with mass-market games on exponentially larger teams and budgets. All that money won't make a good Thief game. The basic ingredients for good Thief can come together on a small budget, and the vision needs unprecedented focus.

oh wow..
those are pretty cool.
As much as we'd LOVE to see that happen with Garrett (or whoever happens to be the center of the new game) I think, as Jtr said, we need to see how the game is first.
Before having them do something like this as a supplement to it.
