Wich version of Thief do you think is the ultimate version?

If you are talking about Thief:The Dark Project and Thief:Gold, I would have to say Thief:Gold is the best of the two original versions of Thief. If you are talking about all Thief games, then they all are the best.

All versions. Thief 1, Metal Age, Deadly Shadows.

Depends on what you want. The first game has more undead and supernatural elements, the second has less undead and more normality, and the third has less Thief-ness.

From best to worst:
Thief The Dark Project
Thief Deadly Shadows
Thief Gold
Thief 2 The Metal Age
Thief G: My opinion is that the new additions just seem tacked on especially the Mages Guild.
Thief 2: The Mechanists have a conspicuously James Bond villain flair to them which doesn't blend well with Thief's setting.

Although, Thief 2 is more popular with fan-mission developers, so I suppose it has the most gameplay. More bang for your buck.

Why do you say Thief III gots less thief-ness?

Here is my ranking(T2X must have its part, too):
1.Thief TMA - for great missions and plot.
2.Thief TDP - great atmosphere but too many unnaturals and cave-walking
3.T2X - for great missions and all new story and character;)
4.Thief DS -it could be the great game but is only good due awful city-solution as a poor and boring link between missions...

I think perhaps what he means is that thief 3 doesn't quite live up to the thief standards, in terms of the gameplay compared to the originals. Correct me if I'm wrong.
