4:3 just because I prefer CRT's. I'd love a Cinerama setup for iRacing though.

widescreen, if it's done right. (enhanced/widened FoV rather than zoomed).
If the game gives me trouble I'll run it in 4:3 with black bars on either side to get an FPS boost.

Why not, Koki? There are still lots of 5:4 screens around
Well 5:4 is not 4:3 to be honest, no?
Still, when I'll be changing the monitor I'll probably take a CRT anyway because I hate how unflexible resolutions are in LCDs. Then I'll have to move my desk to make it fit.

True, but you said you wouldn't have any choice about widescreen. 5:4 ain't widescreen. :D

16:10, 1920x1200 (when possible).
Been using a Dell 2407 since Easter '07.
Would never go back now :)
Me too, except since '06.

Think of it as free antialiasing.

since I entered a cinema as a kid, I knew: something's wrong with TV & PC.
now, decades later the industry seems to catch up. but as e.g. gaming showed us, not many have actually understood proper widescreen/FOV parameters for modern games (bioshock, fc2) in contrary to e.g. Valve.

I can't really justify the outlay for the sort of widescreen monitor I'd need to get to consider it an upgrade across the board. So for the foreseeable future it's 4:3 for me.

For me widescreen is not more left/right, it's just less up/down.
In either case it is still closer to natural human vision.
Once you go widescreen you never go back :thumb: 4:3 is just so unnatural.

I think I'd very much like to change my regular 17'' LCD for a widescreen 22'', but I can't really justify the costs at this point. :(
