Hi,
I've been using the tool here:
(
http://mugon.org/widescreen/thief.html)
And have widescreen working. However it's running at maximum of 1440x900, which is a bit more than my laptop can handle. I wouldnt mind but in Thief 3 it seems the entire game slows along with the fps to prevent any choppiness which means Garrett runs at walking speed :bored:
I've been trying to figure out how to get it to run at a lower resolution, at least 1280x800. Putting this into the tool makes no difference- in fact whatever I put in, whatever the ratio, it's always 1440x900.
Any suggestions?

I have no idea, but I think the widescreen fix just keeps your desktop resolution. Have you tried changing your desktop screen size to something more manageable before launching T3?

Yeh, makes no difference :(
I suspect the tool automatically takes the highest resolution available to your monitor. I've even gone to the extent of creating a custom monitor driver using powerstrip that sets the highest resolution to 1280x800 with the plan of making 1440x900 an 'unsupported' resolution to use on my desktop, but for some reason the driver kept turning out identical to my usual one.
So the only way I can think around it is changing the tool to use a different resolution, or manually modifying the files the tool affects.

NWhat you need to do is...
Apply the widescreen patch then locate the save game folder, user under either your my documents or all users my documents, then in there will be a folder called "Thief - Deadly Shadows" then inside that a folder called "save games" then "options" then a files called options.ini.
the is a line in that files called "Resolution=3" or similar, change that to "Resolution=-3" and see how you go.

The only negative number that makes a difference is -5, which changes it to a similar resolution but at 16:9 ratio for some reason. I still have slowdown but with borders :s I tried down to -12.
