Ok, after getting a new computer sent to me in November (my old one being a PII 450 with Win98 that couldn't run hardly a thing anymore) I finally get to sit down and play TDS for the second time. I first played it on my mom's laptop, late at nights after she'd gone to bed and I could run off with her computer. Now she hates me to touch her computer, and I have made TDS run on mine, so alls good. (actually it runs no problem. Was just a big sluggish for a bit there. Until I turned the resolution down and vsync off)
Anyway. . .the first time I sort of zipped through the game, spurred by the need to get to bed before 6am when I couldn't start playing till after 1 (yes, that was a string of very little sleep days. lol) and the fact that I could not stop wondering what was going to happen. So now this is on my own computer, I can take my time a bit more and enjoy things better. (and take more risks and face enemies in a more sneaksie fashion. :))
What I was wondering is:
I am currently in the Moira Mansion and the widow has asked for some wine. The servants have refused to bring her any, and when I get up there, she asks me to get it for her. Well, Garrett, but you know what I mean. No, I don't have an identity crisis, but when playing first person, its sort of me/him - me unless I want to blame him. *coughs* Anyway, the first time around, I spent a good 10 minutes trying to actually GIVE her the wine, but had no luck, so finished the thing without her. But, while digging through the sound files, I found she actually responds when she'd given the wine. (unless this was taken out, but thats what I don't know) So, my question is. . .HOW do you give her the wine? Is there a special bottle I should be picking up for her? How do you actually give it to her so she'll respond and speak to you?
I know its a silly issue, and I can obviously play around it. . .but I feel like being nice to her, despite the fact that I'm robbing her penniless :ebil: Or perhaps because of that. lol It just bugs me that I cannot seem to figure this out.

Get any bottle from the kitchen. Face her and bring the bottle to her lap. Hit R.
You may have to do it a time or three. There's a bug there that defeats it now and then.

Aha! I am glad to see I was on the right track. Had a bottle from the kitchen, but kept dropping it at her feet from various angles. Never thought of throwing it right in her lap. lol
Thanks! *runs off to see what happens*

I gave the widow the wine by coming up to her & right-clicking. In my case, though, the wine stayed in my hands. It was as though I poured her a little bit into a glass without giving her the whole bottle. She thanked me for giving it to her so I know it worked.
I tried it a second time & must have clicked too hard because that time it floated in the air briefly before falling to the floor. But she still thanked me for the wine.
I'm thinking that it's the right-click that does it. If you hold the button down too long, the bottle will leave your hands & float while if you do it "just right" you'll retain the bottle & can then place it on the table.

Giving her the wine can be tricky if you don't know how to do it.When you walk up to her walk up toward her right side that would be Garretts left if he is facing her and look down toward her lap around the knees area and right click the mouse,if it is done right the bottle will then appear in mid air on its side above her lap, leave it like that and leave the room and the wine and along with a note will be in Garretts room when you get there.{note that if you stand to close to her while trying to give her the wine the bottle will not stay in mid air it will hit her instead or just fall to the floor and you won't get the bottle of wine and the note that came with it}As I said before some people have said that they have gotten the wine and note by leaving the bottle of wine on the table for her which has never worked for me but who knows it might work for you if you want to try that.
Two comments on methodology.

Oi, I knew it can be done!
Gotta replay the game again :P

I've always left the wine on the table. However you do it, she'll say Thank You when you've done it right.
FYI, Tin Star's mention of the note is one of the 3 possible outcomes to the optional wine goal.

Woo hoo It worked for me this time. Only took me three tries too. Instead of ten minutes with no success. Oddly, I did the thing with coming up to her right side, but instead of going into her lap, it hit her in the head and stuck there, wobbling as her head moved. lol Not sure *why*, but since she said thank you that time, I left it for her to deal with.
Ironically, though, I did not get a note. Though I DID find a note addressed to Curtis outside the apartment telling him to kill Garrett, and shouldn't he know what he's being killed for. I even saw Curtis, though, he kept running around like a mad thing and *refused* to settle down so I could KO him. *rolls her eyes* One of the city watch in the area was doing the same thing.
Tried to kill them, but it took too many arrows since they were all worked up. Ended up just avoiding them until they went away (next day).
On the good side, escaping from the statues was a lot easier this time too. I wonder if playing with a real mouse is making the difference for these 'stuck' spots I had. Both the widow moira and climbing over the bookcases to vault the railing and hit the glyph had caused me no end of trouble the first time. This time it was no big deal.
And I learned Garrett could vault railings. lol It looks cool. I keep dropping out to third person and making him do it just because it looks rather funky for a game. :laff:

You took the Gold the Captain left in the chest, didn't you? If you do that she sends Curtis to kill you.
If you don't take the Gold, you don't get 100% loot, but you get a reward. :)

Oh? I've always taken the gold. I feel bad doing it, buy hey. Somehow, I think Widow Moira will manage.
What's the reward though? 'cause if it's not worth more than the gold in the chest, then forget that :p

There are 3 outcomes that whole scenario.
1) If you give her wine and take the hidden stash or leave the stash and don't give her wine, nothing else happens.
2) If you give her wine and don't touch the stash, she'll send a note of thanks and a couple of bottles to your home.
3) If you don't give her wine and take the stash, she'll send thugs after you to kill you.
