Gotta be. Maybe we could steal it from a scrawny graverobber that squeezed into the Alarus Extension.
We know what jokes could be made, but what could possibly give a bow upgrade legitimacy in the established paradigm? Seriously. Any good suggestions for making it fit right in?

The only thing I could think of is increased distance or perhaps having a small mechanical part that somehow locks the string and arrow in place and takes the string pressure off Garrett's arm until he fires, hence eliminating that annoying (but I guess realistic) bit where his arm (and your aim) begins to shake? I know thats a bow upgrade I'd certainly support, even if it is unrealistic. Then again, I'm hoping the steam-punk influences from the metal age return for the sequel so it would fit right in for me.

There's still the idea of Garrett getting himself one of those Mechanist crossbow pistols, or as Petike the Taffer suggested for another kind of Thief, a flechette. I'm surprised he never thought aloud his opinion on them in TMA.

I think the ol' Zelda style acquiring new this and new that throughout the game is a tried and true way to aid pacing. Aside from gaining new arrow types and the like you could acquire a composite bow (I think that's kind of similar to what you're describing, no?). Of course, Assasin's Creed IMO has shown us that acquiring new upgrades and weapons can't work as the ONLY method of pacing, that's where plot and new gameplay mechanics comes in.
Of course, they STILL need to throw in a ridiculous bow upgrade in the Alarus extension, just to be amazing.

Could be, I'm a total newbie when it comes to actual archery or archery terms. That being said, I can (at this point) douse a torch in thief 2 from hundreds of feet away while running full speed - I've almost got it down to an art. Too bad virtual skills are useless in the real world :laff:

I just hope the make the bowsights like in Thief1/2 and not like in Thief3. Those diagonal sight made proper aiming quite hard.
