Hardly. I don't know about simple or unoriginal, but it did bring things full circle.
BTW, where does it say or show that ALL the Keeper's are dead? I don't recall that detail. Is that an assumption?

The game itself doesn't really tell you for sure. Some of us guessed the guy in the library at the end was a keeper, and that since Garrett is now The One True Keeper, they are still operating. Others disagree and figure they're gone. I don't think people have really said they're actually dead though... just gone.
edit: when I said First Keeper, I meant One True keeper & changed it

What I would like to see is the mages coming back (if, theoretically, there was a sequel.. *sough*). I doubt they were very happy that thier talisman got stolen, and with all the wierd crap that happened in The City recently, you'd think they'd at least be curious...?

A T4 would need to have totally redeeming gameplay and story value. peopela re only saying "no" to a 4 becasue a) theythink 3 sucked and b) 3 kinda put an end to Garrett's story. You even get the sence that he's not a THIEF anymore.
Still, who's to say he'd live in peace and happiness forever... Stories can always continue. However, I think this kind of thing would be best left to the FANS to do, instead of some corperation =P

I don't think they should make a Thief 4 because I don't think I could put up with all the whining like I did in 2004. Comments such as Thief 3 sucked because;
- it had new features
- wasn't a direct copy of The Dark Project
- "required no skill"
- "was made for XBox kiddies"
- they could only get 20fps on their Pentium 3 600Mhz with 128Mb RAM
Personally I am very happy with three Thief games and what could be more sweet than that?
